My husband and I have just returned from a very enjoyable 7-night stay. I read the couple of negative reviews below and wonder if they have the wrong hotel. We had excellent service from friendly, helpful staff the whole time -- when I emailed to say our arrival would be delayed because all trains had been stopped, I was immediately telephoned and told what arrangements would be made if we didn't arrive by midnight when reception closed. We were in room 614 with a balcony overlooking the bus stop and the town's main roundabout, which worried me that it would be noisy, but not at all. We were able to sleep with the balcony door open every night. The bedding was high quality, and the in-bath jacuzzi was the best I've ever experienced. The spa and outdoor pool were excellent. We ate dinner in the restaurant three nights. The menu was generous, varied and good, but not exceptional. Be warned, however, dinner ends at 21.00 and the cheese course was cleared away one night before we finished eating. (I also arrived back to the hotel at 17.02 one day and the cakes that are served from 15.00 -- 17.00 were already cleared away and not available.) Local wines were delicious, and well priced. Be sure to hire Patrick, the walking guide. At 12Eurospp, he's an absolute bargain and adept at guiding for all levels. A free bus pass comes with your booking and the buses are easy to use, but the morning buses were very crowded with walkers. The bus pass can also be used to get you back to Balzano if you are travelling by train.
