Solymar Naama Bay

I'm so glad that I've chosen Solymar for my first visit of Sharm. The territory of the hotel is small, very beautiful and gives cozy feeling. I booked it for two days, but then decided to stay till the end of my holiday. The food was great, big thanks to all people who work in the kitchen and in the restaurant. The stuff of the hotel is very friendly and nice, especially Maher and Allah. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Just got home from a family Holiday, would we go back - Only for the staff! Hotel is extremely dated - in need of some redecoration, but room made up every day and clean so you make the most of it. Food - always found something to eat and staff will cater to your every need if you ask. Pool opened later and closed earlier than advertised every day. Pool bar closed early every day, definitely was never open until til sunset. Entertainment - if you enjoy an evening of family entertainment then this is most definitely not for you. Bar area is small for the size of the hotel. However the staff, especially youness the main barman in the upstairs bar was amazing and made every evening fun - with different cocktails and impeccable service.

The hotel is very run down and is in need of a refurb. The rooms are old and dirty but comfortable beds. The airconditoning didn’t work in one of our rooms and the hot water didn’t work on the other room. The staff are mainly friendly and the food was ok but sometimes rather random combinations, such as burgers and rice only being available. The pool is dirty and there were a number of broken tiles around the edges, the pool lifeguards go round with a mop that they dip in the pool to get wet which explained a lot about the cleanliness. You did get a new pool towel each day which was good though and the sun beds were comfy. The worst part was the amount of Russians there compared to other nationalities. They were just very horrible to be around and also there were two fights in the bar between them which is not what you want to see on a holiday so didn’t feel that safe. It’s clearly a hotel that was original to when it became a tourist destination back in the 80’s as that’s the decor. Plus the windows and balcony railings are all wooden and not that safe for kids as wobbly. No wifi other than in reception and also didn’t work for 2 days, we needed up using the neighbouring hotels wifi which was we were lucky enough to be close to in our room. Lots of the reviews on here I think are fake as it’s not 4 star in any respect. Would not recommend.

Stayed here for a week with friends as a bit of a last minute holiday based on the 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor. First of all its worth noting that apparently fake/paid for reviews is very common in Sharm - having gone back and relooked at the reviews, most of the reviews rated 5 star are from accounts joined in 2024, who haven’t reviewed anything else and all have very similar profile pictures- they also appear after a bad review so something to look out for (likely fake). This hotel is not a 4 star hotel, i would say 2.5 at a push. Rooms: Rooms are dated which isn’t a huge issue if they were clean which unfortunately they aren’t. The showers really need updating, a very small cubicle with a shower curtain and not the cleanest. Shower pressure was like a dribble. We had no hot water for 3 days which reception didn’t seem too bothered about, had to go to reception 3 times before they sent an ‘engineer’ out. After some fiddling around in a cupboard outside, we did then have hot water which came out of the cold tap. Only to find out later that night that we then didn’t have any cold water. Essentially the engineer just switched the cold water to hot, even our toilet flushed with hot water. The air con we had barely worked, it had to be left on 24 hours a day for it to feel remotely cool. The beds were comfy. Pool area: The pool area doesn’t have enough sunbeds for the amount of guests, you have to be up early to get a lounger. The pool itself is falling apart with broken tiles around the edge. When staff are told, they just put a wet floor sign over it. By 2pm the pool is like a warm bath (hotter than our showers for the first 3 days!) which in 40 degree heat is not ideal. The lifeguards ‘mop’ round by the pool constantly all day however they mop with an old rag/towel that is black in colour after 1 day, doesn’t get changed regularly (once during our 1 week stay) and absolutely stinks when they mop past you. It was also seen being rinsed in the pool at one point. Staff Hit and miss with staff, a handful of staff appear friendly and greet you however our experience was that most weren’t particularly bothered. Can’t understand all the comments about the staff “going above and beyond” as this certainly was not our experience. We had to ask for basic things like toilet roll and towels in the room and even then it seemed like hard work. Entertainment The layout of the hotel is odd. There is a kids mini disco followed by entertainment of some sort in the evening outside however it is quite far away from the one bar that is open in the evening and the toilets. Can’t comment on the entertainment itself as we didn’t go to it during our stay for the above reason. There was a live singer most nights in the bar itself, which were average. The Z bar is okay if you manage to get a seat near air con. There were fights between guests on the first 2 nights of our stay apparently started by the same person who remained in the hotel despite this causing
