Brocco on the Park Boutique Hotel

Probably the worst brunch I have ever had . Sat outside and the terrace felt quite unloved , very different the buzzed space it was a few years ago . Had maple ham eggs Benedict hardly any hollandaise sauce drenched in maple syrup and hard eggs no runny yokes. Muffin was thin and hard . My daughter's smashed avocado was not much better 1 tiny piece of toast very ordinary. Said that we weren't satisfied but no price reduction was offered and at £16 per plate felt a complete rip off . So left with a £50 bill with 2 coffees and 2 juices . Won't be returning

We held our wedding celebration here and all it was totally what we hoped it would be. We went for the banquet option and the food was superb & service great, could not find one fault thing. All of our guests, including the vegetarians, praised the high standard of the food. Having exclusive use of the terrace throughout the evening also made for a great day. For a small wedding celebration we could not recommend this venue enough, we'd seen some of the recent reviews so to be honest we had some concerns leading up to it but everything was perfect. All staff were great so special thanks to Tom & Jack & the rest of the team for making everything so perfect.

Well, well, well. Seems like the hot water issue has been going on for months!! We booked for a couple of days for our anniversary (10 years) as we used to live in the area and wanted to reminisce. We rang a day early to see if we could get an extra night only to be told the night we had booked would be cancelled because they had no hot water but it might be back on later, well we decided to take a risk and go anyway as we were looking forward to the roll top and shower. Alas!! No dice! And the lady at reception literally gave no f**cks, I mean literally could not have cared less that we've travelled all this only to be lied to, they had no intention of getting the water fixed and there wasn't even an apology, just a 25% discount and an offer of a gym to have a shower in! Can I just repeat the hotel DID NOT CARE whether we stayed or not. Avoid. Awful. Terrible.

Family meal for a birthday - grand total of 10 people in the restaurant but left waiting an hour between courses. Food was bland, bread for burgers was stale and most dishes not as described on menu. Other tables were prioritised over us. Overall very disappointing experience. Overpriced for the quality of service and food that was given.

Today Tom prepared a tasting Banqueting menu ahead of my birthday party on the 15th June. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. Well done Tom. I’m sure my guests will be impressed. I can’t wait. Thank you for the experience.

It is with sadness, having recommended Brocco on the Park often as we live nearby, that we need to warn people that standards have dropped dramatically. The staff ‘at the coal face’ are still very good, but senior management, it seems have abandoned them. The hot water has been off for well over a week now… when you ask to speak to the manager, you are put through to the head chef, who is valiantly trying to hold things together but who says he is the most senior member of staff available and this continues. There is no doubt that they are doing their best, but when various members of staff say they haven’t seen any senior manager for over 5 weeks, when they apologise and say that standards have dropped and they can no longer recommend the place. It is so sad to see somewhere that was a bit of jewel become so neglected that even though the staff are doing their very best to serve the guests, but even they can’t do it all. Is this a sinking ship? For the last two weeks, when we have had 3 of our guests staying there, it has very much felt like it. I would not normally post a negative review - it is hard enough in the hospitality business, but I have found it impossible to find out who owns the hotel now, nor to speak to a senior manager. I feel very sorry for the staff who are amazing and have done as good a job as possible under what must be very difficult circumstances. And yes, they still don’t have hot water 8 days on … and it is not because of the bank holiday.

Perfect. We'll appointed hotel. I should think the owners have spent a great deal of money creating a lovely modern hotel yet with an old building.

Brocco on the Park ticks almost all the boxes on my list of hotel essentials. And I have high standards!
