We have stayed in 10+ Atour hotels, and feel this one does not justify the current 4.9 rating. First, the positives: the room was clean apart from a few marks on the floor, and the rooms are as advertised apart from one major point (see below). The building has been newly renovated into a hotel so the fittings, furniture and decor are all new. The reception staff were nice, friendly, and responsive, and there are all of the usual Atour facilities like laundry and a fitness room. However, a major issue for us was that the room we booked did not have an external window, despite a “city view” being listed as one of the highlighted features on Trip. The small window in the room looks onto a very small light shaft/inner courtyard. Describing it as a city view is both incorrect and misleading, particularly as this room cost more than the one listed as “no city view”. When contacted by Trip on our behalf, the hotel provided no acknowledgement of the issue - the response that was relayed to us was that the “unified view of the room is the interior view”. Additionally, the breakfast room seems to be too small for the size of the property - we arrived and there were no tables for us to sit at straight away. It also has no windows and feels cramped. Even though it isn’t, it feels like eating underground/in a bunker. The dumplings are held behind the counter in baskets so you can’t help yourself, yet they are cold 🤷♀️ There was also noise late into the night, some of which seemed to be from housekeeping cleaning rooms past midnight, and otherwise from noisy guests in other rooms. The soundproofing isn’t as good as it should be, but there are ear plugs provided. Location wise, the hotel is next to a mall which is currently still being constructed. It is not centrally located so worth making sure the location works for your plans in Shenzhen.

I checked in at midnight. There were two service staff at the front desk. I was surprised that there were two service staff at this late hour. I was very touched. I booked an elegant king-size bed. The girl at the front desk said that the elegant room would be stuffy without windows and ventilation. She upgraded me to a superior king-size bed for free. The room is quite large.
