The hotel is located in a superb location and the rooms are fantastic. We booked 4 rooms for our family. Abbey Cottage 1 overlooks the Abbey but all rooms are well located. The Hayloft is great experience too! The staff were very attentive and accommodating. The room and breakfast included is very good value. Thoroughly recommend it!

Pros - wonderfully comfortable bed and pillows, lovely sheets and soft fluffy towels. A lovely newly refurbished bathroom and lots of lovely hot water and nice toiletries. The food is superb, both dinner and breakfast, with lots of choice and cannot be faulted. Dogs allowed everywhere, which for us is a massive plus with 2 dogs. Opposite the Abbey so in a marvellous position for seeing the area by foot and parking is free as well
Cons - chipped paintwork in room and bathroom, needed a re-paint of walls and the lovely wooden sash windows were dirty with peeling paint and a pane of glass was cracked. The coffee table was chipped and shabby and the general state of cleaning/dusting sadly let the room down

We stayed in the Hayloft room, paid the one night weekend rate of 210. The bathroom is not fit for purpose. Tiny, smells damp, mould in corners, very disappointing. No where to even rest your washbag. Saw the bathroom in the other rooms … way way nicer and up to standard for that price … this room should be 50% less.

I found this hotel very overpriced.
£130 for the evening.
The room was cold and unwelcoming, had to call the reception to ask to put the heating on in the room.
The cafetière had not been cleaned and was had the previous guests coffee still in there I had to wash out before use.
Room was tired and bathroom a little grubby.
Staff were excellent in the pub, but for the price of the room- it was not worth the cost at all.
Disappointing stay and I would not return.

We were in Sherborne and looked for somewhere for an evening meal that would take dogs too. Booked the Plume online. As we were leaving, we received a phone call from the pub, just checking that we were aware that because it was Valentines there was a special set taster menu at £45 per head. Gulped - but thought- let’s go for it! So glad we did. It was fantastic!!! My husband thought the Negroni had gone to my head because I stated (more than once) that it was possibly the nicest food I’d ever tasted!!!! Honestly- a superb meal! Utterly worth the price! Well done to the chef!!! And fabulous service too!

Lovely stay at the Plume of feathers. Lovely quaint loft room overlooking the coutyard. Very friendly, clean and a great breakfast included. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous pub, with wonderful service and the best atmosphere I have ever experienced. The staff were incredible and the room was lovely and warm. Thr Hayloft is a lovely space , be aware it is a double bed and a sofa bed. Whilst the double bed was sumptuous, the sofa bed was lumpy and not too comfortable.

Dusty to where we had to leave window open all night & sent them a email & still not got back to us plus the breakfast was more like a kids so for the price for 1 night or £170 not happy
