I revisited with a friend due to calling in to Butlers bar for drinks the previous week and finding it quite pleasant and decided to sample the menu. We ordered our drinks and food at the bar, then waited for our drinks to be poured… and waited… and waited. Eventually our food arrived but still no drinks and when I then found the bar person who had disappeared and enquired to the whereabouts of our our drinks, I was told that the kitchen called service and if she hadn’t gone then the chef would have gone crazy!!! We finally received them half way through our meal. While we awaited our food a spare meal was carried round the restaurant and she was asking if anyone had ordered it, apparently nobody had but our meals then turned up rather quickly of which was the same meal, chicken skewers - one on each of our salads, funny that. Really hoped that they had turned this local venue around so that we could use it regularly- a shame and so disappointed

We stayed in the bridal suite for a lot less than £90 . Yes it's old and yes floors creek and doors are heavy but we like that. Suite was huge with jacuzzi bath .It was clean and we loved it. Their trying to up date the hotel slowly which we understand and appreciate. Bar and breakfast area are nice and breakfast was very nice indeed. You can tell that when everything is done this will be top quality...the clue is in the staff they are all happy in what they do from all age groups no miserable faces here. If you want generic stay at the services at junction 4 on the m54...if you want to stay in a place that's trying on every level to improve and go places this might be for you.

One night stay for business. The hotel is a traditional English hotel under renovation. Some areas are tired but part of the charm. After the renovation I am sure will be back to more glam.. the pub nice and busy from locals which was fun to see, breakfast was ok. Plenty of parking… the city is small just a nice walk around.
