We stayed here for 1 night whilst passing through Shrewsbury. The room (Room One) was very nicely decorated with good quality fixtures and fittings. However the space in the room was very tight with little room for luggage and two people moving about! This ground floor room was also very noisy from both road traffic and pub guests. The pub and restaurant area was lovely with lots of tables and the service at the bar was very good. Car parking was a little tricky given we were overnight guests (perhaps a designated area may help) but there was a chap helping out guiding people where to park. Breakfast was a little hit and miss - whilst the service was good, I've never had scrambled egg cooked in oil which made the breakfast dish inedible. Would I stay here again? Probably not but was okay for a 1 night stay.

Met some family for Sunday lunch. Service was appallingly slow, and staff just didn’t seem interested. Food was average for the price that they charge. My Mum sent a £24 meal back as it was cold and no one apologised, they just said ‘did you want us to change that’. Really disappointing considering how good this place could be with the building and location. This is the second time I’ve been and just think it’s definitely not worth the money you pay!

The food was decent but very average in terms of flavour. Salad was much too oily , the burger was more like meatballs and the pappardelle dish was just average but the chicken pies was great. The waitress though was amazing, very welcoming, smiley and helpful. Would not travel to eat there again but would call for a drink if passing.

First time here and myself and sister had a lovely evening. Booked last minute got a table for 8pm we wasn't rushed in any way the food was amazing all piping hot and very tasty took a while to choose as we both liked everything on it.. desert was also delicious. Staff friendly. Clean and feels very spacious.

So it’s a mixed bag for me. I stayed for one night for work and the place is lovely. The greeting at venue was perfect. Although arriving at dinner time around 6pm on a Wednesday meant no parking and a little drive around their front and rear car parks was needed until I lucky found someone about to leave and nabbed their space; awkward but no real harm done and it shows how liked by the local community this place is. Check in was at the end of the bar and simple. I was shown to room 5. It’s a large room with high ceilings, and lovely large comfy bed and views out over the front garden seating area and road/junction. Bathroom is en-suite shower well decorated with nice metro grey tiles and soft lino flooring (but all in-keeping with the theme of this modern take on old world meets up market theme. Room had coffee machine, kettle with everything you need. And all is complimentary. Two dressing gowns are in the wardrobes along with hairdryer and tea and coffee bits and bobs. Now, the room itself, whilst lovely has a undulating floor which creeks in areas and a thin sash window (which is likely to be unable to be replaced due to planning restrictions) but hears lay my main gripe. The noise for conversations around the main entrance or from the garden is a thing to contend with, however the music from the bar, which directly below you, along with ALL conversations from within the pub can be heard until closing time. I’d had such a day at work that I did that great British thing of laying there thinking I I do not have the energy to get dressed again and head down stairs to ask for another room (as I’m sure when I booked this was the last room available) but also, it will be quiet soon (a thought that was on loop every 10min from around an hour until just gone 11pm Are in the restaurant and all was pleasant. Pork belly starter was nice, however the crackling that came with it was like biting into hard plastic. Bless the young server, who must have been new as this comment was met by a look of “oh no, I haven’t just received the standard “everying fine” what do I do” The main was a crispy beef salad, a tad more beef would have been welcomed but that because I’m greedy and like more meat but it would have balanced the dish a little better. I’d stay again but I would absolutely get a different room!

Went for Sunday dinner. Food was lovely, although quite pricey. However the service was really slow and staff were inattentive. It was also uncomfortably hot in there despite ceiling fans being on and it wasn’t even a hot day outside. A bit disappointing overall.

We had a room for Saturday night and a dinner with friends in the evening. We also used the bar area for pre dinner drinks, the nice rear garden area for a lunchtime cocktail in the sunshine and we also used the main restaurant area for breakfast. All services and items for consumption were excellent quality, including the food, drinks, room comfort , decor etc and all the staff extremely friendly, attentive and courteous. Breakfast was very good indeed, we had full English of course! It was extremely busy in the bar and restaurant on Saturday but that made for a good atmosphere. The bar area clientele seemed a little younger (maybe rugby club/young farmers) but more mixed ages and mature folks in the dining area. Many customers were enjoying the weather and riverside setting and using the outside tables. Car parking was just about adequate. A very nice man named Martin came over to check the parking area and stopped for a chat and explained the layout and side entrance to the beer garden.

We had Sunday lunch here with friends. We all had beef except one of us who has lamb, food was stunning, absolutely delicious! Extras were cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. Deserts were so so good, all with great service. Great bottle of Chardonnay as well.
