A lovely one night stay at The Bull, The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially as I was travelling with my arm in a sling, even to the point of offering to cut my breakfast up so I could eat it ๐๐๐ this was very appreciated!
In my room the shower cubicle needed a better clean as there were long hairs from where some one has washed their hair and the bedroom curtains needed blackout blinds in the actual window recesses to block out the street lights, and in the recess, as people could look up from the street and see behind the curtains. Signage or more visible prompts explaining where to go to check in would also be good !
All that having been said I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others needing a short stay in the town.
Once home to Prince Rupert - grandson of King James I - this charming hotel has its own place in the history of medieval Shrewsbury. The Mansion House is the oldest part of the hotel dating back to 1150. It houses five suites with original features and some have four-poster beds. A 15th century suite with original oak beams is also available. The hotel has three restaurants plus Camellias Tea Rooms and a garden courtyard that offers guests a quiet haven. Its health club features a Jacuzzi and a gymnasium. Located in the heart of the town guided tours of Shrewsbury can be arranged by the hotel. Parking is chargeable. A Classic British Hotel / CB. Stay inspired.

The hotel is right in the very center of the town and the location is very good. The breakfast is very rich, you can order the main dish yourself, we have a very clean breakfast. Hotel service is also very good, we asked about the bus time nearby, the hotel front desk sold to the computer to print a schedule to us. The only downside is that the hotel house is very old and the rooms are generally small.

Second time we have stayed here, birthday gift Bubbles and Breakfast voucher from work. Stayed in room 20, the room under the main house, really spacious and clean. Decor, furnishings and attention to detail is lovely. Really is fine quality. The bubbles were served in an ice bucket as promised. Such a nice place, best place in Shrewsbury in my opinion. Breakfast selection quality of the food and service also spot on. Couldnt ask for any more.

Not stayed in the rooms but been in many a time for a drink. Nicely situated close to the town, railway and bus stations with a pleasant pavement area at the front Our experience is that the staff are always excellent with a smile and efficiency that is often missing in some places. Food is good too Nice place to spend some time

Excellent
GGuest UserA really well designed space and great value. It's also well located - a bakery, several pubs, cafes and restaurants just a couple of minutes walk away. It's next door to a lively pub, but the noise was very contained and didn't affect our sleep. Great shower too. We were walking the Shropshire Way - this was a perfect overnight stopover.
GGuest User2 night stay with friends while touring Shropshire, Herefordshire and Wales. Private grounds, off road parking covered by CCTV and a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Rooms were en suite, clean and warm. Breakfast was included in the room rate, was of good quality and plentiful. Hotel has bar and light bites menu or there are restaurants and pubs a short 5 minute walk away. Family run hotel with a small, long serving, team and it shows. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and look forward to my next stay.
GGuest UserHuge thanks to Chris and his team for making me feel completely comfortable during my stay. Customer service exceptional as was the cleanliness of my room. Although this visit was on a personal basis- for those who need a great place to stay in between business meetings- would and will be recommending to my contacts. Also some beautiful walks by Battlefield Church for all those who like the great outdoors. ๐ Thanks again Kerri See you soon!

GGuest UserFirst you generally know what you are going to get from the HI Express brand and this is a prime example - clean, efficient staff, good sized rooms for a traveller, well positioned near major road, good breakfast and a good shower. This fulfilled all of those admirably. Plus it has a bar so you can relax rather than look for elsewhere if you desire a pint. Would stay again.

GGuest UserMy partner and I stayed at Hawkstone on a Golfing break away (2 rounds of golf and a 1 night stay). We arrived to find that the booking company had requested a twin room for us but Cheryl was extremely helpful and changed our accommodation for us to a King Size Room. She was also very helpful in giving us some information about local facilities etc... The room itself was very comfortable and everything we needed was at hand. The bed was extremely comfortable and I would have been very happy to take it home haha. The food was amazing and all of the staff were extremely helpful and polite. The two golf courses were well-maintained and we both enjoyed playing here. Would we stay here again? Yes absolutely, though next time we will be booking direct rather than through a booking company.
