Crystal Sunset Luxury Resort & Spa - Ultimate All Inclusive

OK, I feel conflicted about this hotel, lots of good stuff ie the hotel building itself and the number of facilities are good, but sadly too many disappointing aspects for them to be ignored and outweighed by the good. Initial impression was good on arrival, the bellboy/man whisked out to get suitcases but uncomfortably hovered for a tip (another guest told me their bellboy reached for money into his pocket to show he wanted a tip). Rooms were nice and spacey overall, we had a standard double and a family room. However, the side seaview we had paid for was over a noisy street, overlooking a car park and a building site (with hundreds of pallets). We had to wait until the 3rd day before another room with an actual seaview was available, which meant that my family of 5 was even further split over 2 floors (4th & 5th). I flagged the room issue straight away and was told to come back for a room change in the morning, then advised it would have to be the next day, when I went back the next day, they said sorry it would have the to be the next day - so couldn't get settled and unpacked until the 3rd day. No apologies offered by anyone at any time, bearing in mind I had emailed the hotel twice in the 2 months prior to our arrival to ensure our rooms would be what we had requested and next to/near to each other. Although, I will say one of the ladies on reception did make a good impression with her level of service (?Yrina) Odd bedding - a stiff cotton blanket which covers only half the bed instead of sheets, thin but adequate quilts in wardrobe without covers, pillows were good. Towels annoyingly changed daily even when hung up and didn't need replacing. Aircon fixed at 22 degrees. Cleanliness not up to scratch in any area, same sweet papers in lift for 3 days, a used plaster stuck to our shower wall from a previous guest, every sunbed and plastic table around the pool filthy, some with thick residue on, I always had to clean the beach tables in the sea or pool myself. Empty paper and plastic cups, straws, leaves, food and drink spillages on the floor and around the edge of the pool...... No cleaning teams anywhere. Service was generally poor, I heard many guests complaining. I think this was down to simply not enough staff, and those that were there, had generally had given up. I have never seen so few staff in a hotel of this size ie the irish bar (no guiness so ?Irish), patisserie, coffee bar, harbour town bar all had just one staff member, so they were doing everything, but there was no desire from them to keep it nice, dirty tables with empty cups & glasses left everywhere, if they ran out of something (ie teaspoon, sweetener, Baileys) they wouldn't offer to get it, just said sorry there is none left, if there was a queue they had no idea who was next....and they were often stood with their phones in hand ie lifeguard on the beach watching football on his phone, another lifegard on cobra slide taking selfies.....
