The Kingswood Hotel

Lovely hotel. Very clean. Excellent location. Car park. Staff very attentive. Nice to hear the waves in the morning and during the night if you can sleep with sound of the waves on the shingle beach. Sidmouth lovely. Walking main task of the day.

Great hotel. Clean, very well maintained, up to date and fantastic food served by fantastic staff. Nothing was to much trouble. Well done to the managment team for providing a first class product and service. Perfect location. They have different rooms so get the best you can afford as its worth it.

Light airy room with large bathroom, although we didn’t have a sea view the view wasn’t bad for a ‘back of the hotel’ room, the lounge and bar downstairs was very comfortable and all staff made you feel very welcome. My only gripe would be the dinners, lovely food but small portions and big prices, Breakfast on the other hand was generous and included in the price.

We had the most enjoyable two night break in this beautiful hotel. The warmest of welcomes from Catherine and Dawn together with the friendly staff, who served our meals with a smile, to the cleaning staff who do an amazing job, all added to a perfect getaway. Clean comfortable bedrooms look out on to the most stunning views of the sea, if you are able to pay that little bit more for a sea view you will not be disappointed, especially if you leave the window open slightly and hear the sea lapping on the shoreline of pebbles. You will leave feeling relaxed and only wishing you could stay longer.

This is really an old-fashioned hotel in an old fashioned place with a sister hotel next door. It gives the impression of good space in all of the downstairs rooms and has a really good position overlooking the road and the beach and very close to the town. At first sight in and around you would be forgiven to think that this is a foreign owned Hotel, in reception and various staff but we are assured that that is not the case and is still owned by the age-long owners and hopefully will remain so. Our roon was the first floor over-looking the road and the beach and was fortunately fairly large. The bar is adequate aided by the Elizabeth next door for a change. The breakfast is good and plentiful with a varied menu and the dinner is adequate for a hotel with a reasonable couple of choices. Parking is always a problem in such a place but there are ways around it and the car parks are within a reasonable distance, some spaces can be reserved if booking early. Nothing would prevent us going there again but we would need the room that we had before which was probably bigger than most. C'est la vie

Luvly clean with nice sea views ,some age showing on decor in bedroom but didn't detract from our stay . Great staff ,had luvly evening meal ,perfect for a short break ,nice walks along sea front and through the town.recomended the anchor pub

We loved our stay and have had great service from our old friends Steve and Max. Fantastic waiter service from both!. We will be back (again!) for the 20th year to see our favourite receptionists Sheena and liz! . Bring back the sea kelp soap and cheese board.

This hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the sea so a sea view room is recommended. Lovely views , sunrises , sunsets and people watching from the room. Everywhere is beautifully clean, beds comfortable, staff helpful and friendly. Shout out to Max in the restaurant for doing a great job. Id like to mention a few others - please wear your name badges! One thing I would prefer would be the vegetables served separately at dinner. On previous visits they've always been separate and more were available if needed. They seemed slightly smaller portions this time, although sufficient. The same with biscuits in the room... I've still given 5*

The thing that struck me most about our brief stay here was how friendly the hotel team were. Everyone was friendly and certainly gave the impression that nothing was too much hassle, even down to a member of the maintenance team sorting drinks for me when everyone was busy! We stayed just one night, sadly, but wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. I enjoyed people watching from the balcony, as the world passed by along the esplanade. We had dinner and breakfast, and thought food was really good for both, but particularly the breakfast, just what you need to start the day off! A really nice stay, the only problem was it too brief!
