The island itself is so wonderful . I strongly recommend it. Eating a meal by the quiet and beautiful sea is good just for its atmosphere.

The entire experience was wonderful. The resort is beautiful with a stunning main restaurant and wonderful landscaping. Our room was huge and luxurious. But most special were the staff - thoughtful, attentive and always with a smile that comes from the heart. And not to forget the food which was excellent and served in different stunning locations across the island. Special mention to the night boat trip we did to experience bio luminescence which was simply magical. And an excellent afternoon in the spa. Couldn't ask for a more authentic and unique experience!
Response from Property: Dear Till V, Thank you so much for taking the time to describe your wonderful stay and share it with other travelers on this platform. We are delighted that you appreciated our authentic concept and enjoyed the genuine way the team interacted with you, as well as the food and other positive experiences you had while on the island. We are looking forward to your next visit! With warm regards from the Song Saa team.

You should know what this resort is and what it is not; It is not a luxury property. It is a beautiful island with a rustic resort with good dining. Positives: - Beautiful setting - The Ocean view rooms have a nice outdoor space including the plunge pool - Dining experience - good food, nice locations, flexible, great restaurants staff - Tommy the resort manager is great - Excursions were fun (although snorkling nothing special) Negatives: - The eco resort is very rustic looking and is in need of a big upgrade. Everything seems pretty run down - The island is completely surrounded by Sea Urchins. You really can't use the ocean - The over water villas have literally no shade after 2pm. You are in direct sunlight and they are laid out in a way that it is impossible to get any shade. You can't even sit inside with the shades open. - The car from the airport and the lounge at the dock were both substandard. Not a great way to make a first impression
Response from Property: Dear davidsB8138BC Thank you for your honest feedback, which highlighted the positive aspects of your stay as well as a few that did not meet your expectations or preferences. In response to your review's "less positive" points, we'd like to clarify a few aspects of Song Saa Private Island's barefoot luxury concept. The vast majority of the materials we use in our buildings and furniture are natural, locally sourced, and part of our recycling and up-cycling efforts. The harsh elements of wind, sun, and rain have a direct impact on the materials we use. It is part of our vision not to use paint or coatings on the outdoor wooden structures and cladding. This may result in a more rustic atmosphere, but it is all part of Song Saa's distinct mood and feel. Sea urchins are a common sight in the Koh Rong Archipelago's marine ecosystem. They are not poisonous and are easy to avoid because they are only found in specific areas. Our watersports team is available at all times to provide reef shoes or advice on where they are hanging out, as this varies depending on the currents and seasons. Sea urchins help us a lot and contribute to reef resilience by grazing algae and providing settlement space for corals, thereby helping to maintain the conditions required for coral communities to recover after acute disturbances (such as storms or bleaching). We also have the Song Saa Foundation team available to provide you with more in-depth information about the marine life on the island through guided snorkel tours. We established a 200-meter "no-take zone" around the island, which Cambodian fishery authorities recognized. This means that our house reef, which is directly in front of our overwater restaurant, as well as the ocean view villas, are home to a diverse array of ocean life and are popular among snorkel enthusiasts. Unfortunately, visibility was not optimal during your stay. This could explain why you mentioned your snorkeling experience. To accommodate each individual guest's preferences, we offer several villa categories, each with its own identity. Those who enjoy the sun and having direct access to the sea will prefer to book one of our Overwater villas, which are shaded in the morning but receive plenty of sun after noon and have breathtaking sunset views. Our Ocean View villas are ideal for those who want to enjoy the sunrise while also having some outdoor space with shaded areas. Guests looking for a more private and lush experience up the hill in our jungle area, away from the island operations downstairs, will adore our Jungle Villas, which all have stunning ocean views, some with sunset views. We are deeply sorry that your arrival experience was subpar, and we are working with our team and the taxi service company to determine what went wrong and how it can be improved. We understand and respect that our barefoot luxury concept is not always suitable for everyone. We regret that, despite all of our efforts, including imm

Spent 6 wonderful nights at the amazing Song Saa Private Island. We arrived by plane from Siem Reap to be met outside arrivals by the Song Saa team. A short ride to the port where we waited in the Song Saa private lounge before a very pleasant 40 minute speedboat journey to the island. On arrival we were met by Tommy, the hotel GM, and a dozen or so of the team (more than 150 staff in total to look after you in only 24 rooms) before we were taken to our over water villa (we booked the 2 bedroom and were upgraded to the Royal). The villa was amazing with gorgeous views across the gulf to the larger island of Koh Rong and a good sized plunge pool on the outside deck. Bedrooms were huge with comfortable living area as well as a large dining table and small kitchen. The island is small but perfectly sized with sandy pathways between 2 restaurants, spa, sports area, a small beach and lovely ocean side pool. Most days it was just the 3 of us and maybe one or two other families by the pool. My wife and daughter enjoyed the spa facilities a number of times and we did some off island snorkeling which was very enjoyable. As well as the standard dinner menu every evening there is a chef's special menu of 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. The lovely thing about this is that the menu can be served anywhere. We enjoyed eating by the pool, on the beach and in both the restaurants on specially set up tables for us. Really wonderful. Lunch menu was removed during the Covid epidemic and we are assured it is about to be re-introduced but in any case the team will do whatever they can to accommodate you. I had a club sandwich and burrito neither of which are on any menu. Everything about Song Saa is focused on guest satisfaction. We are fortunate enough to stay in 5* hotels all over the world and the staff at Song Saa are truly amongst the best we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Every single staff member we interacted with from house keeping (excellent by the way) to restaurant staff could not have been more pleasant, attentive and charming. One small comment on billing. Like every other 5* hotel I have ever stayed in over 30 years the billing is the same. Whether its at the end of a dinner or a day by the pool there's just one bill to sign. We couldn't recommend Song Saa highly enough if you have the opportunity to visit and are looking for total relaxation.
Response from Property: Dear SJCATraveller, On behalf of the entire Song Saa team, we would like to thank you for sharing your wonderful review on this platform. It was a pleasure to host you and your family for a couple of days in our 'little' paradise. We can see that when guests choose to spend more than the average three days on the island, their experience becomes even more memorable. Thank you for bringing up our menu selections; in fact, we reactivated the entire menu selections that were available prior to the pandemic this week. We also included a wide range of gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian dishes. Special food or beverage requests are never a problem; our team is happy to adapt and cater to each individual's diet or taste preferences. To reduce our environmental impact, we try to source as many ingredients and supplies as possible from local distributors. Again, we are delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your private island and barefoot luxury experience, and we hope to see you again someday. With warm regards from the Song Saa Family

The ocean view villas were spectacular. Beautiful views everywhere all over the island. Service was awesome and the different dinner destinations was a very different and nice experience. The food was mediocre at best for the caliber of resort. Dinners were better and breakfast was ok but lunch was awful. Everything you ordered from a soda to a drinks you were brought a bill to sign. It was very annoying. You were on an island you could not leave unless you left on their boat so I don’t understand why they couldn’t wait until the end to give you the final bill. With how much it cost to stay there I can’t believe they charged me $15 for a pair of two dollar flip-flops when mine broke!!! You couldn’t go in the beach, it was full of rocks and sea urchins. You had to stay in the overwater villas to jump in the water one of their ridiculously expensive Excursions. Been too many places like this other parts of the world and never again! There were even ripped chairs!!!

This place was far more beautiful and polished than i had imagined. The rooms are amazing and in a stunning location. The boat trip over was effortless! Everything was perfect from house keeping to the restaurant. Everyone was so helpful and happy, with a special shout out to Kim who looked after us so attentively! The Scuba diving was great, with lots of different dive sites- no huge fish but nice and clear, giant Puffa Fish a plenty, with rich colourful corals and plenty of reef fish activity. The Island reef has Blue Rays which was a nice treat to see. Watersports- great Kayak trip to the Mangroves and around the Island. Wakeboarding was perfect with a nice flat sea to play on. Sol and his crew are so attentive and helpful to keep the day nice and active! Not to mention the luminescent plankton night Snorkel at the Island- its like having glowing frogspawn all over you- a very strange experience but truly awesome and unusual. So glad i visited this place for New Years Eve- they went way beyond any experience i have had, setting up so many different stations around the island with an array of different flavours of food and drink before the main event which again had beautiful food whilst watching a stunning acrobatics display. What a way to end the year and start a new one!! If you are in Cambodia, you cannot leave this off the list of your visits. Forgot to mention my wife loved the Spa here too!!

The perfect paradise Island escape. After a warm welcome at the harbor lounge and a 40 minute boat trip in a fantastic clean and safe speed boat we reached the tropical bliss island. The amazing Song Saa team gave us a lovely welcome and we felt immediately the good vibes and professional care from everyone. Can’t say how amazed we were about the Song Saa team. We stayed at one of the stunning private ocean front villas. Dipping into our private pool every morning, having an outdoor shower, hanging out at our lounge bed… always with the great view off the ocean and the house reeve. The villa was very spacious and beautifully designed. Talking about the design, lots of the beautiful outdoor furnitures at the island are made out of drift wood, and left with natural patina mixed with luxurious design all environmental friendly. The sustainability is one of the reasons Song Saa makes a difference to most of the luxurious islands. We had the chance to talk to Claire about the Song Saa Foundation and learned a lot about corals, nature, education, medical care and waist management on the Cambodian islands. There is so much love and respect for the nature and the people of Cambodia and you can feel it with every step on this barefoot island. Thanks again to Tommy and his lovely team for making our stay the most pleasant and relaxing we could ever wish for.

We are a German family of four adults and enjoyed this vacation very much so. The cabins were excellent . The staff as well. The variation of food were incredible. The massages could not be better. We can definitely recommend this resort for you. The resort is supporting the neighborly villages on the Islands nearby. For snorkeling you need to be a good swimmer as the current along the island corals is strong. But the staff is very helpful. You can hardly find a better place than this one. But it would be good to speak English fluently.

A truly wonderful experience. The location is magnificent, staff warm and engaging and oh so relaxing. Stayed 3 days, could have stayed longer. We had an ocean view villa, which I feel is the sweet spot. Jungle villas looked a little tired and the over water villas looked a little hot and austere. The service was excellent and the food delicious. Dining at different locations on the island added to the experience. Love the deep eco-friendly and socially responsible ethos. We did a tour of the local fishing village to see the work the Song Saa foundation is doing, it was touching. The only downside was possibly the price of some of the extra activities are rather steep. Perfect for honeymooners or those seeking to recharge. A once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommend.
Response from Property: Dear Richard K, Thank you very much for posting this lovely review about your experience at our little private paradise. It is a pleasure to read you connected so well with our team and truly appreciated our service and kitchen. Indeed, our exemplary concept of providing different dinning locations for each individual evening is very popular and is one of the highlights for most of our guests. A big thank you as well for spending some time to connect with our Song Saa Foundation team, visiting Preak Svay village to have a closer look into all the projects they are doing together with the Community, marine protection for sustainable fisheries and waste management to name a few of their projects. We understand your remark about the prices for the “extra activities”. Most of these extra activities involve motorized boats which indeed comes at a higher cost than the complimentary non-motorized activities due to the associated operational costs of running the boats needed for these activities. We would like to wish you all the best and hope to see you coming back some time. With warm regards, Tommy Resort Manager
