Requested a quiet room as we needed a rest from travelling to visit Castle Hill Hospital. On arrival directed to an accessible room off the main reception area and backing onto the function room... where an Asian wedding was being celebrated and which was loud and clear within! We returned to request a quiet room, initially told that there were none available, then when I said ok I would drive home, I was given room on the first floor looking out the front of the hotel. The receptionist was not professional nor polite. Room quite small and very tired, in need of a general update. Bed clean but also very small. The shower worked but the head was thick with black mould. Walking down to reception in the morning the vine over the spiral staircase stuck into my head (I am somewhat tall) however when I complained to the two (new) girls on reception they just giggled. I explained I was complaining and they just looked at me blankly. We took breakfast @ £10 each in a large deserted restaurant with pleasant service. Filtered coffee only included, which had been stewing since 6am at a guess, but quite a range of buffet items and cooked options, which unfortunately, were arranged on a plate and microwaved judging by their consistency. Overall the place is in need of a refurb and the staff require training.
