This hotel is nicely named as it was, indeed, grand! The hotel has a grand lobby with high ceilings with views of all the hallways of all the rooms on the upper floors. It has a glass elevator at the far end which adds to the lobby view. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size with a desk and chair and a large TV stand. The bathroom was also a good size with plenty of counter space. Our balcony – and perhaps the way the hotel is laid out, every balcony, has a pretty good view of the sea. The view with the sea and the mountains was beautiful. They have a dinner buffet that looked great with a lot of local food choices for 45 euros pp. The breakfast buffet was excellent with quite a few hot and cold choices plus a chef at the buffet ready to make omelets with a variety of ingredients. The dining room has indoor and outdoor seating, all facing the sea, again excellent views. The hotel is on the beach and also has an indoor and an outdoor huge pool. There are many lounge chairs on the beach for guests as well as pool towels. Slano is a small town with not much to do. I think there are three restaurants and maybe two shops plus a pretty church. It is approx. 40 minutes from Dubrovnik, so this isn’t the place to stay if you want to spend every day in Dubrovnik. But if you want a relaxing, by the beach, quiet stay – then this is a great place for that.
