Random Hall

Attended a Club lunch having pre-ordered my food choices 6 days before the event. The lamb steak was very tough and barely edible. The vegetables were mediocre and not enough for the number of people on our table. For the dessert I was told that they had run out of the cheesecake which I had pre-ordered. As an alternative I was offered a chocolate brownie or lemon tart. I chose the tart but was later told they had run out of that too. I declined the then offered alternatives of chocolate brownie or ice cream. However the waitress then handed me a lemon tart but without the trimmings of raspberry coulis and cape gooseberry that others had on their plate. Having pre-ordered my food choices it’s inexcusable that they had run out. Because our Club lunches run to a timetable it wasn’t practical to send food back for replacement by something more acceptable. The filter coffee served at the end of the meal was disgusting, which was a widespread complaint, and so as an alternative we were offered coffee from “ their machine”. The delay, however, disrupted the smooth flow of our Club meeting. Generally the service of food and drinks was slow and chaotic. Despite the poor quality of food, drink and service we were not offered a discount off of our not inconsiderable bill for 25 people.

We stayed here for one night, the hotel and grounds are pretty. We had a very nice dinner in the restaurant and the service was good. We were both exhausted after a long day so desperate for a good night’s sleep. Sadly, once we switched the TV off, apart from some voices coming from next door, there was the unmistakable sound of very loud snoring coming from, I guess, the room below us!! After about 20 minutes of trying to ignore the horrendous snoring my husband and I got up, packed and left despite it being gone midnight as we knew we would never be able to sleep. Obviously the walls and flooring must be very thin which is a shame.

We came here for my daughters afternoon tea for her baby shower. The ladies who served the food were friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us and the food was excellent and so much of it. We had such a lovely afternoon with family and friends and would highly recommend this venue.

Beautiful room with very comfortable bed and lovely bedding Old farm house building beautifully restored, lovely attentive staff nothing was to much trouble. Gardens full of flowers and a lovely pond with baby ducks. Food both dinner and breakfast delicious. I will be back

Yet another Wedding Co-ordinator in the space of weeks!! Something is just not right here. Inexperienced bossy owners?? Lack of Kitchen standards? Lack of Fire standards? Lack of industry required training? Lack of Employee guidelines? All of the above???

Very friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Had a great night’s sleep.

Completely over priced, minuscule room for £110. Staff not specially friendly and did not have restaurant open at night. Breakfast was cheat with aggressive music.

I had not visited Random Hall before but decided to hold my baby shower there. From the beginning the correspondence was very efficient and the service received today was great! The venue is so lovely, all staff were polite. We were a group of 17 and the afternoon tea was delicious and very well catered for. I would recommend to anyone looking to hold a baby shower in the area!

First time staying at the Random Hall but was really impressed with everything from my en-suite room to the bar and the restaurant, credit to Richard and the staff as nothing was too much trouble , food was excellent and a good choice of drinks at the bar . Would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are in the area .
