Hotels near King John's Palace, Slough

Although I reviewed this hotel back in June, I thought I would give an update on our last, and definitely final, visit to this hotel. In July we stayed at the Sheraton for one night and parked our car at the hotel for 3 weeks. After midnight, when we had gone to bed, we heard a high powered car being revved and raced around the car park. Yes, someone was using the car park as a race track, using the cars parked there as the edges of the track! Someone else was taking pictures on their mobile phone. We contacted reception, who sent out a security guard and another member of staff. They, however, obviously knew the people racing the car and had a good laugh and joke with them before returning to the hotel, leaving the racers still revving their car and taking photos. I took photos too (attached). My wife was incensed by this total lack of interest from the hotel, and stormed down to reception. One of the people who had gone out to the car was there, plus the duty manager looking rather sheepish. They apologised with a grin on their faces and seemed to think that it was totally acceptable to them that this was going on as the people racing the car were members of staff!!! An incredible attitude. And it was obvious from their reaction that this was not a first time occurrence. Realising that we weren't going to get anywhere with the totally useless members of staff, and as by now the racers had left, we decided to raise the problems with a senior member of staff the following day. A couple of the managers we spoke to on the following day were disgusted at what had happened the previous night. Unfortunately they had already handed in their resignation as they weren't happy with the way the hotel is being run. So decide if you're happy to leave your car at a hotel that condones its staff using the car park as a race track and what damage they could do to your car. Remember, any damage to your car is not the responsibility of the hotel, even if it's their own staff who have caused the damage! Please read the other reviews regarding cars being damaged at this Hotel. I posted a review on the Marriott website and received a very defensive response from the front desk duty manager. She apologised for the fact that staff were racing cars in the car park but didn't seem to really take it seriously. This experience, combined with the non-working air conditioning in the bedrooms, the tvs in the bedrooms that often don't work, the gaffer-taped tatty old carpeting in the hallways, the scruffy pool area that is hardly ever swept clean, the downgraded quality of the Club Lounge and the withdrawal of the Club concierge service seems to be indicative of a company seeking to justify changing the branding of this hotel to one of Marriotts budget brands. However, they're still charging 4 star prices for a hotel that now struggles to give one star service. Shame on you Marriott for ruining a formerly very good quality hotel. We had excellent service from Supriya and the other staff who were so friendly and helpful. Supriya even put an extra bed into the room as we had a last minute child to accommodate so that was really kind of her. I would just say that the pillows were incredibly hard so it would be good to have some softer ones please! And it was a very noisy location with air conditioning units next door going all night. But Supriya and your lovely staff made up for that - they were sooooo lovely.

Could and should be nice. Great location…….comfortable bed with good linen. However, the scruffy and untidy front and rear means most people would walk past, just an unattractive proposition. The scruffy paintwork outside, and in the room, may be considered a little heavy duty maintenance but the very rusty toilet roll dispenser, 3 mismatched hangars in the wardrobe and delaminating shelf (the only one in the room!) are all low cost, easy items that should have been picked up some time ago. We didn’t stay for breakfast as the kitchen is open to view from the bottom of the stairs and it didn’t fill us with confidence or comfort. No drawer or shelf storage…….so those 3 random hangars were more significant. Shame………

I know i will arrive London Heathrow late. So I tried to choose a hotel not far from airport to crash out a night before heading to London. I choose Holiday Inn Slough Windsor because I think instead of stay in airport hotel, at least I can go take a look at Windsor castle in the morning - there is no much different between 20 minutes Uber and 12 minutes to most of the airport hotel near Heathrow Airport. In fact I arrived 4 hours later than I should be - checking in after midnight...very smooth. As I am Platinum member of IHG member , I was pre-assigned executive room on 8th floor. Looking inside room, I have to say this room is better than my expectation of Holiday Inn: with Lavazza Coffee Machine, with slipper and all necessary amenities. In the morning I called a Uber to Windsor Castle just take a look. It cost between 7 - 9 pounds one way, about 8 minutes. Hotel to Slough Station, another 8 pound, about 6 minutes. Slough Station to Paddington, 10.8 pounds on GWR , 18 minutes. Overall the 2 hotel staffs I met, all very kind and friendly, everything is very smooth, everything works. It is by far better than a convenient hotel only , it is a very decent hotel and especially if you drive , there is ample car park, and good value to visit London and nearby area.

Good hotel needs the hot water sorting out at times an tv signal other then that perfect

I booked this hotel because its close to Legoland and we just wanted somewhere to relax after an exhausting day out. This hotel exceeded our expectations, so much so that we extended our stay. The staff were lovely, rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. I recommend going for the Lego Buffet in the evening, its worth every penny. Everyone on reception was friendly and welcoming but a special mention must go to Melwyn, Food & Beverage Manager. Clearly a professional in his role and an asset to the hotel. He made sure we were looked after during all meals and always came over to say hello. He truly went above and beyond. Thank you all for a lovely stay.

Hotel was exceptionally and staff were generally friendly. Only thing they forgot was the kettle I requested for a replacement for the one in the room as it had a dirty filter, though the replacement never came it was still a good and economical stay, convenient location with lots of amenities around as it is a 10-15 bus ride from Heathrow airport .

Thank you to the team (Aysha, Faisal, Anamika and Sharon) who were super helpful and had great energy. I had a problem with the toilet in the bathroom of my first room allocated and the matter was dealt with by Ayhsha and Faisal so swiftly and in descretion that it was hardly a bother. I also got given a complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience which was hot, tasty and so much choice. Out of the three Travelodges I have stayed this week and not just because on what I have recieved but from the humble and jovial nature of the staff, I think Maidenhead wins for me. Thanks to all! I will be back!

Excellent time, warm clean large room nice looking and stylish bed comfy soft pillows, nice big shower all clean hot water large soft towels. Keller bar was easy to get to great food and the band was great with a really buzzing atmosphere the night club was good too easy music to dance to. Easy to get back to my room at the end of the night. There was a lady called Laura who was always checking the ladies and floors making sure everything was safe she even kept the loo rolls topped up! All the the staff were really friendly and it was such an enjoyable experience. The next morning I visited the spa which was really great with pool, steam and sauna etc plus gym area all Technogym equip. Then a full English breakfast there was a good selection of food all warm and tasty. The staff were well organised clean tables etc. Well worth the money for all types of groups and families staying I would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you and see you again soon!

The staff in this hotel are so welcoming. Outstanding service and friendly all round. There is in my opinion a couple of staff who should be recognised for their above and beyond service making guests feel more than welcome. Ella, Sarah, Vaz and Charmaine. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Even the bar staff must include” Steve” are happy to give you an enjoyable stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone Oh! by the way. The standard of food in this hotel is exceptionally good quality. A beautiful complimentary breakfast and menu. 24/7. Well done all.
