Because of the meeting, the price has skyrocketed many times, but it is really convenient to go to the opposite side for a meeting. It is a good hotel under the local economic conditions. It is very convenient for the front desk to help you rent out. The automatic currency converter exchange rate is very high.

As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by a uniformed man, who welcomed us to the hotel and took us to the reception desk, having looked after our bags, which were later taken to our room. The lady at reception treated us with great courtesy and efficiency, and therefore, from the outset, we realised we were in a well-run five star hotel with professional and helpful staff. Our bedroom was stylishly decorated in cool shades of grey, with two wide beds, a panoramic window with a view of Vitosha mountain, and the marble bathroom was of a good size, with modern fittings and a lovely walk-in shower. We had booked the Club Room and were not disappointed with the newly opened Club Lounge. They offer refreshments during the afternoon and then ‘happy hour’ from 6-8 pm. We found the service really excellent, with staff keen to help, and spent delightful early evenings having drinks and eating an enticing array of canapés. Breakfasts were also excellent in the Europa restaurant with a wide selection of cooked and cold options from the buffet, and dishes cooked to order such as omelettes and eggs benedict. One last point to mention - we found the Chief Concierge - Todor Goranchovski - most helpful in booking us restaurants and directing us to some notable attractions in Sofia: he was great. The Intercontinental is really a top class hotel and we would not hesitate to stay there again - thank you to everyone who made our stay memorable.

Me and my husband stayed there for 3 nights. Lots of dust in the room, like no one cleaned areas at the head of the bed for years. The same situation is in the bathroom, broken drain plug in the bathroom tub, mold, rusty stains. We had great expectations regarding this hotel. We do not recommend it. Three stars are for the friendly English speaking staff, delicious breakfast and central location of the hotel.

The room is big, but the decoration is a bit old. The scenery outside the window is very good. When you open the window, you can see the majestic snow-capped mountains opposite. The surrounding environment is also very quiet. Overall, it is good.

We stayed here because our flight arrived late night and shuttle bus came to the sofia airport after calling the hotel. We prefer to get the shuttle bus without calling (ex. it's better if we can call the bus by app or text etc). However, the driver and all staff were really nice and friendly.
Our train was very early morning so we asked the hotel to prepare our breakfast and it was really good! Thank you.
Our room didn't have bathroom rug.

Some rooms need renovation. Service was great. Breakfast delicious. The location is next to the airport, but getting there is hard, the street on the map which is going there is actually a offroad gravel road. Alternative way is to ho 2 km to sofia and then make a u,-turn. But I still recommended for one night stands close to airport.

I missed my flight at sofia airport so had to book a hotel for one night. So I went for a mid range hotel. It was better than mid range. Lovely helpful staff on reception, an aceptable price with thier discount....paid 68 euros for a large kingsize bed with onsuite bathroom. Comfortable bed, fresh pillows (very snazzy cushions too) and a nice relaxing corner sofa, reasonable TV and every thing was realyl clean. Complimentary coffee and tea, which is not the norm in Bulgaria, nice and quiet, was lovely and warm. Actualyl a bit too warm and I couldnt turn the heating down so I had to sleep wit hte fridge open to cool off as aircon didnt work. THis was the only negative for me. They did an airport pickup, but not a drop off and this nearly stopped me booking, as they should have told me this at the begining, however they were saved by the fact the metro was 4 stops to the airport and cost me 1.60 leva, so about 70p. I picked up food from the little shops in the metro, as I hit a holiday so the restaurants close by were closed. A very lovely stay and Id go there again. AND they had these lovely drop lights near the bed as side lights, some veyr nice touches, clean crisp sheets, soft towels and nice soaps etc and they dont ask you to leave till 12 lunch time. My photo doesnt do the room justice

Our recent stay at Crowne Plaza Sofia was brilliant, thrilled to have stayed at this very impressive state-of-the-art, upscale hotel. Arriving into a stunning, airy, and free-flowing reception. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and spoke excellent English. Checked in by the shift leader he was extremely efficient, informative and professional. Allocated a King premium Lake view room, which was stylish, spacious, clean, well designed, and great to have an openable window. Received a box of Lindt chocolates and some Bulgarian natural honey as a welcome gift this was a charming gesture. Enjoyed a blissful nights sleep such a comfy bed with premium linen. A long work desk with chair, perfect lighting, mirrors and power outlets, also a very comfortable and relaxing chaise lounge. Opulent bathroom with separate bathtub and walk-in rainfall shower, cool and modern tilling, fabulous huge bathroom heated mirror with LED light, super soft towels and premium Apotheke Canvas toiletries. Plentiful room amenities, espresso machine and kettle, good minibar, complimentary mineral and sparkling water, plush bathrobes and slippers and an iron with ironing board. Exceptional spa facilities, lovely large indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, quality hot tub, but shame it was broken during our stay. Plenty of pool side loungers making a perfect spot to unwind in. The changing rooms were immaculately clean, well organised and contained more Apotheke toiletries. A disappointment was the club lounge, in terms of location it is isolated, and uninviting. Did not like visiting the club room, especially as I had to gate crash a wedding to gain access!! A windowless room although aesthetically pleasing certainly not a relaxing idyllic retreat, a bit claustrophobic. Our experience of the club lounge was unsatisfactory, as a discerning traveller I feel the location is wrong and felt a total a detachment from the hotels excellent atmosphere. Hoping this can be improved for a more enjoyable experience, I noticed the hotel has many flexible work spaces which would superbly host a club lounge, currently positioned along a corridor passing by meeting / conference / and ball rooms. I thought the offerings in the lounge were inadequate compared with other Crowne Plazas, throughout the day soft drinks, tea and coffee, and well presented fruit was available, but a some crisps and homemade biscuits would have of been nice. Poor drinks and canapés in the evening but nice light breakfast in the morning, pretty average facility not worth the extra. Excellent breakfast served in A PRIORI restaurant it offered a wide selection of food, really nice, fresh and tasty. Sleek stylish water dispenser with sparkling and still options, tasty coffee, divine croissants and the omelettes are amazing. Staff are fabulous could not be more helpful and friendly. You definitely must try their breakfast. This hotel has the Wow factor, the interior design is visually appealing and guest spaces

Outstanding
GGuest UserCasa Ferrari was a lovely place to stay in Sofia for a couple of nights. The host, Ludmil, is simply one of the very best - he has a great knowledge of the history of Sofia (and Buglaria and the Balkan region in general) and is a great resource for sights to see, how to plan your day, getting a taxi, nice little restaurants in the area, etc. And a great conversationalist in general! He also helped me out with a last minute change of plans. The B&B has a very comfortable common area with cute furniture, there is a kitchen that one can use for basic prep, but Ludmil serves a very nice breakfast that also mixes in a selection of Bulgarian pastries and yogurt. The room itself was spotlessly clean with all the necessities, and very comfortable. The place is in a quiet area of town so there is absolutely no street noise or other disturbance at night, but it is just a few minutes walk from all the tourist areas and attractions. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserPros: The hotel design is very modern and clean. The staff are nice and friendly and do everything they can to help you. This hotel is big on sustainability. They don't leave plastic bottles in your room. Instead, you have glass bottles that you can fill up everywhere in the hotel. Every floor has a drinking fountain where you can fill up your bottle.
The food was absolutely amazing. Breakfast is not a buffet. On weekdays, you have to choose between a Bulgarian or a French breakfast. At first, I was disappointed that they didn't have a simple option like an omelet; I went with the Bulgarian option. It was fantastic. Everything was fresh. On weekends, you only have an omelet option, which was also great. For dinner, I got Sea Bass and it was also great! I am fully satisfied with the food served at this hotel. The only criticism I can give is that the breakfast serving window is very small and late (8:30 am to 10:30 am if I remember correctly) and you have to wait for more than usual to get your food.
Cons: The rooms have tile floors, which look cold but are not since I believe they use floor heating. The problem is that they don't offer slippers, which I don't like, since the same tiles continue into the toilet. It doesn't feel clean.
They also don't offer toothbrushes which I would have really appreciated.
I had to unplug the fridge since the compressor made a lot of noise when turning off and on, and I'm a light sleeper.
Overall I would recommend this place if the location suits you, just bring your own slippers and enjoy the food!
UUncle RioIt is a very clean and tidy interior hygiene and the customer satisfaction efforts of friendly and professionally knowledgeable staff are very conspicuous. The kitchen, toilets, bathrooms and other facilities are very good, especially the distance from the central bus terminal is quite close, so the accessibility is excellent. And the fact that there is a large supermarket nearby is also a factor that increases the value of this property.
AAnonymous Userthe room was satisfactory at a whole, esp with the little balcony attached for a small laundry zone, electric water kettle for making hot tea, a small refrigerator for use, a big plastic bucket in bathroom and hair dryer provided. The lightings are bright enough. TV also offered a few channels.
if a microwave or a small oven could be provided by the hotel for customers reheating their takeaway food or bread, alongside with a mini size folderable tea table, they would definitely earn an extra score by all customers.
The hotel is just a few steps from the “European Union” metro station just south of the center of Sofia. The hotel and neighborhood are both quiet, safe and conveniently located to what I must say is Sofia’s excellent Metro system (you can get almost anywhere in no time for very cheap)! I got to the airport from here in about 35 minutes (not rush hour). The bathrooms are newly refurbished and the rooms are quite large. The decoration is a bit dated (in an older Bulgarian style), but the furniture and king-sized bed were quite comfortable. They allow smoking in the building (so if this is a deal-breaker, go somewhere else). I, for one, am not bothered by it, so I found the hotel quaint and appropriate for my stay. The staff was polite and very helpful. Their English was quite good. For approximately $70, you cannot pass this hotel up.
GGuest UserGood points: - The staff speaks English and is welcome. - Comfortable bedroom. - Possibility to leave our luggage at the hotel after Check-out. - Secure location. - Settled near the centre. Missly pointed: - We had the wrong surprise to find a dead coffin in the room during our stay. - This was very small and not practical bathroom. Furthermore, it was filled with humidity and we had no soap at our disposal. - The mosquito was all-present on the floor and the walls. - Noise room (passage of aircraft). - There are very high and difficult access to the current. - A lot of spiders at the ceiling. In summary, negative points are unfortunately awarded on positive points, which justifies our 2/5 note.
KKarenGWe stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on our way to Romania
Pros- the hotel is in a great location. Quiet leafy street, 500 meters to main bus and train terminal, approx 20 min walk to Vitosha boulevard
- the room itself is quite nice, the TV has English channels, the balcony was an unexpected plus
- the breakfast provided is adequate, though you need to go to an adjacent hotel
- the staff were friendly and did their best to help
Cons- the bed was not made up, they provided a single bed sheet for a queen sized bed. There was only one glass for 2 people. The quilt in the cupboard was filthy, it had no cover and we couldn’t use it
- the mattress has no protector and is too soft. It might suit some but it is too soft for a hotel mattress
- I tried to call reception to ask them for another sheet, a clean quilt and a glass. No one answered the phone. (I was told the next day that the phone is broken ). I went downstairs to find someone but no one was there or answered the bell on the desk. The next day I was told that the receptionist had to cover two hotels so is not always there . Please take note if you are arriving late to the hotel-there May be non one to check you in
They are also very strict on check in times. If you want an earlier check in time than 2 pm you need to pay for it
Overall the hotel is decent. If there had have been someone at reception all the issues would have been quickly resolved
The main complaint is the cleaning and maintenance of rooms
The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was extensive and tasty. The location was great, completely walkable to all of the sights. However, the hotel needs a renovation. The room was comfortable and roomy, and the bathroom and bedding were clean. The carpet was stained and needs replacing, and the baseboards are damaged.
GGuest UserThe Rila Hotel is an old hotel with old facilities, shoe box size elevators but in a very central part of the town near to everything. Our first night we stayed in a standard small room ( I think it cost $46 maybe $50 with taxes etc )that was not satisfactory. The next day for $10 - $12 per day upgrade we moved into a double size spacious/suite room with 2 balconies !! Very nice to sit out on the balcony with the afternoon setting sun and to wash out a few cloth items and let the sun dry them. Neither of the rooms had shower curtains in the bathrooms. When i enquired about this I was told this was done because of covid. Hhmmm not sure how a shower curtain has any bearing on covid ? We stayed a total of 7 nights and only once, after I called down to the front desk, did a chamer maid come up and take out the garbage and change the towels. To be fair my girlfriend has a habit of spreading all her things all over the 2 rooms so we hesitated to make a fuss. I can imagine a maid being shocked to walk in and not know what to do in all the mess. Breakfast cost extra and was only ok but enough to start the day. There was a large flat screen TV which we never turned on, there was no safe deposit box in the room but we were able to leave our valuables downstairs at the front desk. There are other hotels also nearby that are probably more renovated and modern and most likely cost a little more. On our next trip we most likely will see about other options. The staff was friendly and helpful. I guess it depends on what your expectations are but for us it worked.
GGuest UserI booked thinking it would have air conditioning, but it didn't. It was a summer night but luckily it was cool so no problem.
There was a post raising issues with the card for the room key and lights, so I resolved it by inserting another card.
Now you can escape the pain of locking from the inside in the dark.
There was a mysterious hole in the toilet. You can see the piping. I thought it would be better to be invisible here,
