Senses Riviera Maya - Oceanfront All Inclusive Boutique Hotel - Adults Only

Great location and great staff however the hotel is dated. A small hotel with only 1 restaurant but good food and service. Great place to stay for 1-2 days only, any longer and you will get bored.

The hotel rooms are very nice but that’s about all you get. Cristian at the front desk told me there is a $5 USD TIP MINIMUM. Keep in mind the property is ALL INCLUSIVE. I also came back to my room TWICE to someone random in there cleaning without my knowledge or permission. They do not have privacy notices to hang on your door. All the food is also Pre-made, i am almost certain. Everything taste and looked exactly the same everyday. They also charged me $3 USD for a lighter when all I did was ask to borrow. Also the 20-25min cab ride to the airport is at least $65 USD. And you don’t have a choice because everything is “regulated”. There’s nothing authentic about this place, they serve burgers, fries and play American music all day. Moral of the story is, I did not feel welcomed, AT ALL. This was my first and probably my LAST time in Mexico.

My boyfriend and I went to Senses Rivera Maya to celebrate his birthday last month. This was our first time in Mexico and it did not disappoint. The staff was so nice, professional, and inviting. We felt very safe on and off the resort's property. We stayed a total of 8 days and it was easily the best vacation we've had in a while. It's a small, boutique resort so we mainly hung out in our room, by the pool, or upstairs at the restaurant and bar. There's no club or gift shop on the property. There's one restaurant and bar upstairs, another restaurant near the pool, one large pool, and 2 jacuzzi's. The rooms were so huge! It's literally like being in your own personal apartment. There's a bed, of course, a rainfall shower, whirlpool tub with jets, couch/lounge area, private balcony with your own private plunge pool, private bathroom, double sink vanity, and full size closet. Never had an issue with the water temperature. The food was very good every day and night we ate at the restaurant upstairs and by the pool. The drinks we're pretty good, too. Freddy was the bartender at the restaurant. Very nice guy, very good at making delicious drinks. He even surprised me with a random shot that was very good and strong. Jose Luis was the bartender during the day and he always kept the drinks flowing. Didn't have to ask for a refill because he was already on top of it! Julio by the pool was amazing, too. Very personable and friendly. The waiters in the restaurant were absolutely amazing! Ernesto was our favorite! Such a sweet man that went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Angel was another great waiter we had. Great conversation we had with him. He's very funny, too. Christian and Hernan are amazing guys. Very professional and made our dinners worthwhile. Loved seeing them for dinner service because we knew we were going to enjoy our dinner. Even the housekeeping staff was a pleasure. Irma was such a sweet lady that always gave us what we needed, keeping our room clean and with fresh clean towels. We checked in with Cristian at the front desk when we arrived. He was very informative and helpful. Got us to our room with ease, gave us a good rundown of the resort. We even saw him a couple of times around the resort and he made sure to check in with us and make sure we were good and comfortable. That's the great thing about boutique resorts like Senses Rivera Maya. The staff does a great job of making sure you're comfortable, have everything you could possibly need, and don't have you waiting for a long time for anything. Only downside to our stay was the mold in the room in the ceiling. That's the only thing that needs improvement. All in all, our stay at Senses Rivera Maya was an amazing vacation and we're really looking forward to returning!

The staff at Senses are amazing. And honestly, they make it hard to leave a negative review because they really do outshine the issues we encountered. The building is in dire need of maintenance. While they did seem to be doing some repairs during our stay, we encountered issues with things such as broken jacuzzis, dirty tubs and showers, and lack of general upkeep. Especially in the rooftop lounges. The rooms smelled *distinctively* like mold. Every morning you could tell that incense was burning somewhere near the A/C intake in order to try and counteract this. The food tasted amazing, but we definitely ended up feeling nauseous majority of the days we were there. This seems to be a common occurance for tourists in Cancun though, so I don’t know if this is the resort or weak American constitution. Housekeeping was for the most part adequate or better, but most of the time they’d end up getting to our room around the time we were coming back in for the night. We honestly had a great time regardless. This resort really could be a diamond in the rough for those who like quieter adult-only AIs. It just needs a little love and care.

I didn´t like the areas, as there is nothing to do here. There is only one pool and no access to anything else. Bad food without many option

We arrived at Senses and were shown to our room. It looks nothing like the pictures! The bedding had stains on it. There was mould on the stones around the bath. The 'jacuzzi' outside was all broken. We requested to change rooms, and they said they would need to clean it first. They also said they would upgrade us to the 'Honeymoon Suite'. When we went into the 2nd room, the floor was soaking, and the bedding again was stained and damp. There were hairs all over the sofa, and even the lamp shades were stained! We went for a drink to let the room air out and when we came back there were puddles all over the floor. If this was for my honeymoon, I would be mortified! We requested a refund and wanted to get as far away from this hotel as possible! They said they couldn't do anything as it was late at night, and we would try again in the morning. They moved us to another room, and it was the same! The bedding was damp and stained. We put towels down on the bed to try and sleep. There seemed to be only one cleaner for the whole hotel, and the young man looked completely exhausted. While there were unnecessarily 3 people on reception! We requested a refund for the week, and they said they could only refund us for 5 days. 3 months on, and we're still waiting for our refund! It was honestly the worst hotel we've ever been to! The only up side, the staff in the bar/restaurant were really nice.

They offer buffet and the days that we stayed there they never served dinner, only snacks. Jacuzzis didn’t work, have a good view but it’s difficult get the beach, one of the days didn’t have WATER SERVICE!!! Was price for the service that we received

The staff were extremely friendly. The views were remarkable. Only issues we had were a couple of power outages. Also, the AC wasn’t that cold.
