I can’t express how disappointed we both are with this hotel. The only positives are the staff & the location. We were in a double standard room with the wardrobe so close to the foot of the bed that we struggled to open the door wide enough to get decent access AND it smells of musty old clothes like a charity shop. The toilet is tucked behind the wardrobe with no door so no privacy. The room is on the top floor of the hotel, there’s no lift. The top two stairs are quite dangerous being on an immediate turn with limited access to the handrail. I’m 73 years old & partially sighted so it was especially difficult for me. No one to help with luggage. The breakfast was paltry, no bread, no toaster. It was a continental breakfast with the cheapest yoghurt. No kettle in the room, there was a coffee machine but no milk in the fridge, we had to ask for that. Tea & coffee making facilities are the norm these days but we were told we weren’t allowed to have a kettle, I couldn’t understand the reason why. Hairdryer broken but a replacement was put in the room however it was fairly useless with a weak stream of warm air from it. I dislike having to complain, I’m well travelled & have never had the need to complain before but this was an expensive hotel & apparently rated as 4 star- I really can’t see how! On the whole a big disappointment. Would never recommend nor return.
