Absolutely wonderful experience. An amazing piece of history and attentive host. Breakfast was an art piece. Would highly recommend. Cool Rolls Royce in parking lot a bonus! Walking distance to downtown Sonora and 3 mile drive to historic Columbia. Make sure to visit Ironstone Winery up in Murphy’s.

I’ve traveled a good bit of the world, and this is one of the loveliest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The furnishings, upstairs and down, are magnificent with enormous attention to detail. Stayed in the Earl Warren room (I’m a retired lawyer!), with lots of light and gorgeous deep red walls. Breakfast, thanks to Rhonda, are delicious, over-abundant, and beautifully presented. Perfect place. Would certainly stay again if in or near Sonora.

So I rarely write reviews. But I have stayed in many upscale lodgings and I am not exaggerating when I (and other reviewers) say that we would give 10 stars if we could! This is clearly, clearly a labor of love and it shows in every single detail. This place is a gem. Rhonda has a gift for intimate design and cooking! Our breakfast was honestly the best meal we have ever had on a trip. I could go on and on. If you are looking for a quiet, intimate setting, you will absolutely not be disappointed. I've stayed in many places that were twice the price at a tenth of the value. And if you are an animal-lover, friendly dogs, cats and ducks (outside!) will keep your (and animal-loving kids) occupied. I have nothing negative to say. If you want a break from the resort-type atmosphere, stay here. As many days as possible. You will not be disappointed.

What a nice escape for the weekend. First time staying in Sonora and what a gem. The story behind the property is amazing and the family who owns it’s now is too. Each room is beautiful and one has one of a kind touches. King bed and amenities were wonderful. The gourmet breakfast was different each day and excellent. Rhonda is a multi talented host and so very sweet. We look forward to future trips to this escape back in time. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A delight to the eyes and senses…the attention to detail is amazing!! We will be back. The breakfasts were beyond incredible. Both Rhonda and Fred have the gift of hospitality. They have created a very welcoming atmosphere and their house is so beautiful with the period furniture and the decor.

What a beautiful place to stay. The decor and detail the owner Rhonda has put into it is simply wonderful. And the breakfasts, well those too are amazing. The house itself is older, so the rooms reflect the size of the day, but are nicely furnished. You will not be disappointed.

Although I don’t normally write reviews, I felt that I had to in this particular case. This hotel is unique in that you find yourself in a historical house with a few individual rooms all kept as they originally were, plus plumbing, etc. work well, which is not always the case in historical houses. The included breakfast is actually a fairly spectacular brunch, served on true ceramic and artistic plates that also evoke the general historical theme of the house. If there are other guests in the house, you get to know them at breakfast, because you sit together at a large table and you can hear their stories and saying yours. If there aren’t, you are placed in a nice room that in a normal restaurant would be considered a luxury lunch setting. The host is super nice. All of this comes at a cost just slightly above the other standard and, I assume, relatively anonymous local alternatives. If from Silicon Valley you want to take a weekend in a peaceful peace just two hours away or you are going to Yosemite and want a nice break in the middle, this is an excellent choice.

This was the second time my family has stayed at the Knowles Hill Inn in the past few months. We had my brother and his wife with us and they enjoyed it as much as we did. The Inn is quite extraordinary both inside and out. And the food is amazing . You, Ronda are such a special lady. We love to hear your stories about the Inn, furniture and family. We can hardly wait to return! It was also quite a treat to see your collection of cars along with Fred. He has quite the talent when it comes to Rolls Royce. Thanks Jim & Ilene

The Inn on Knowles Hill is a scenic beauty. The Decore was elegant, exquisite, sophisticated, and luxurious. Rhonda and Fred were so welcoming and engaging. At 9 am, when the doors of heaven open for Breakfast, you experience the most aromatic, delicious, and savory meal. I love the place. We love to go back again.
