Hotels near Ribat of Sousse, Sousse Medina

Highly recommended. It is located on the street that leads to the medina. Very central. It is a hostel, clean, minimal, unpretentious but very cheap. The furnishings could be a little more refined but it's still fine. We stayed two nights. Friendly reception staff. Does not accept credit card.

Firstly the positives: We had an ant infestation in our room when we arrived. We complained to reception and they were up within 20 minutes spraying the room. No more ants after that. Our fridge didn't work, we had a brand new one delivered to our room later that day. Bottled was was available and generously given. The lifeguards would reserve you sunbeds for a few dinar which was very handy. The beach and pool were lovely. In general the staff were really helpful. The negatives: Drinks were warm and served in hideous plastic cups. This children's drinks wee served in tiny disposable plastic cups that were very flimsy. My children are 17 and 15. One sip and they were gone. No cocktails you had to pay extra. The bar staff were really slow and the beach bar always had a massive queue even though they weren't making any cocktails! The beach snack bar was very limited and the food was cold. Chips were available 3 times while we were there and when they ran out they would say no more even though you could pay for them next door! What they served you was tiny too. The lifts were dreadful 2 to serve the hotel, one never worked and the other was faulty with the door opening and shutting like something was in the way. I informed maintenance but it never got fixed. A member of the animation team asked us to write a trip advisor review he wanted me to go to reception with him to write it. This explains the positive reviews you read. My 15 year old son was hassled by a male member of the children's animation team to go back to his room, he was very hands on and there was no doubt what his plans were! He was sacked but I did not feel my teenagers were safe here. They have the audacity to advertise their hotel as 'ultra all inclusive'. What a joke! Overall there were some good moments but not enough and I have never felt so happy to come home.

I have just left the hotel today after a week with my husband and four year old boy. We have had the most amazing holiday from start to finish. Every staff member we have seen from the cleaners, to the waiters, bar staff, entertainment team and gardeners have all taken so much pride in their hotel and it really shows. A special mention to Rami, our main waiter who was so welcoming and always kept our drinks topped up. We found the hotel to be nice and clean, in the rooms and around the pool. Our room was a great size with a extra bed that my 4 year old felt right at home with. The storage and space in the room was fantastic. I have stayed in 5 star hotels that have not impressed me with the way the staff have done here. The food has been really great, with varying meats and show stoppers each night but also basics with pizza and pasta that kept my little boy happy. The salads and puddings have also been really impressive. I particularly enjoyed the freshly made omelette and pancakes each morning, with a coffee brought over by Rami. Bar staff have brought drinks to us by the pool and during the evening shows and have been so friendly. We have felt so relaxed and catered for all week and I am so grateful to the staff who made it so great. Another fantastic addition was a special Tunisian day they had where a marching band walked through the hotel and by the pool playing for the guests. The ability to access all the pools between the shared hotels was really great and we spent most of our time by the little pool. It was easy to get beds by the pool and the beach, with umbrellas available everywhere. There was also a fantastic show put on by traditional men and their horse by the pool side with drinks and food to celebrate with them. The hotel has certainly captured a piece of my heart and I'm sure we will come back.

Wonderful from start to finish! I could not recommend this hotel more. For me, it was the hotel team. The hotel community went out of their way to connect with others and genuinely seemed to care. They showed pride in customer service and expressed that they take their five-star reputation seriously. The room standard was amazing. Due to rooms being fully booked over Christmas, I needed to switch hotels for the main Christmas days. I switched to the biggest and supposedly most “ luxury “ hotel in Sousse. Honestly, the switch was not worthwhile. I realized just how exceptional the quality is at the Iberostar Selection Kantaoui Bay. The housekeeping team visited daily providing toiletries, clean bathrobes and nice extras ( such as sweets and chocolates) to the room. Their friendly faces with their cheerful banter were a pleasure to embrace each day. The food quality was great! I do not consume meat or dairy but that didn’t make a difference, there truly is something for everyone. The fresh food selection was incredible and certainly unbeatable to those I had tried elsewhere in Sousse and Tunis. The cooks shared helpful recommendations and I tried a range of fresh local flavours. This hotel was comfortable, with a cheerful friendly team and positioned with an exceptional view of a gorgeous quiet beach. I would happily stay again, and I highly recommend the Iberostar Selection Kantaoui Bay. I would like to extend a huge thank you to the remarkable team.

Great Vacation come with a great hotel, what a holiday! Amazing place and amazing people great room and a quality service! Hoping to come back and enjoy this beautiful country once again and this time with more days to stay! What a trip man!!!

The hotel is a very fine one. Yes, it has its mistakes and shortcomings (I have read the one star reviews before) but you simply cannot except much more for this price and location. + : Staff is super friendly and understanding with kids (except for 1 person). There is a lot of folks working there! Really a lot.. Amazing amount of workforce.. Never seen before in Europe that much people working in hotel. Pools are as good as on the photos. Beds are excellent. Food is constantly available. Food for kids is even more constantly available :) For diners you can get away from the crowd by booking for the 'special' diners . Same kitchen, same taste, you don't get to choose from dozens of food, you get what they prepare, but there is no crowd. Simple tradeoff. We were in a suite w sea view - it was ok, first room on the corridor, we had like 90 degrees view. -: There are mosquitos. Not a lot, but red haired white skinned kids can suffer a bit from them. The hotel is applying gas to control the mosquito population but additionaly nets would be nice on the terrace doors. Food is what you can get when there are hundreds of people on all inclusive. That simply requieres a food factory. There was no food of dubious quality, sometimes the tastes were not to our liking, yet you trully have a wide range of dishes to choose from. So it wasn't a fine dining experience but it was totally ok and sometimes even more. Drinks are not the best. The all inclusice includes wines and beer which we tried only once and opted for the extras after that (bottled beer and wine from the a la carte menu). But it was not expensive at all so even if you are a bit pricky, like we were, you won't have to spend a lot. The half day camel riding program is a disaster. They take you to the outskirts of the next town where is a LOT of rubbish everywhere. It was like touring in a garbage dump. Outside the hotel the country is, well, not too nice. Garbage heaps, garbage, shredding and flaking plastic, and some more garbage. :( Unfinished buildings, half demolished buildings, etc. So the hotel is like a totally different world. The sea and the pools were a bit cold in mid June. A bit. Good between 11 and 4, not particularly inviting when the sun was otherwise not shone strongly. The sand on the beach on one hand is superb, yet there is some debris from construction! Pieces of broken brick. But not covered with it, only some. The so called amusement programmes are tooo loud. We were running away from it every time it started, they turned up the bass and played some techno - but we are a family prefering quite environment. Also there was a part of the evening program that was meant to be entertaining, but it was very very strong for us - the joke was that a male member of the staff dressed up as a woman, and they called 4 ladies on stage who had to walk and look sexy, etc. But again - you don't have to go there.
