Black River Inn Bed and Breakfast

My fiancé John and I stayed in late May for a weekend getaway (this was our first trip to South Haven). Bob and Judine are exceptional hosts, and greeted us at the door and gave us a tour of their beautiful home. The home itself is very clean, the outdoors were very serene and our room was gorgeous (they have just recently made some updates). Bob and Judine also gave us some wonderful recommendations of places to go and things to do. They also have bicycles available to use to take into town (short ride), which was a perfect way to explore the area! The breakfasts they provided were spectacular and we enjoyed meeting and talking with the other couples who were staying as well over the weekend. Thank you so much Bob and Judine, we'll definitely be back!

Greeted with warm welcoming smiles, Bob and Judine are the perfect hosts. We visited as if old friends re-aquainting after time spent apart. Our first stay in any B&B, this was a fabulous choice. We're already planning a return visit! If you're looking for peace and tranquility from a hectic grind, a sanctuary to release life's tension and stress, you've found it. Off the beaten path, but not too remote, Black River Inn (B&B) is a must stay. The two other couples that shared our weekend (Tim and Jan, John and Katie) were great, we'll miss catching up on everyone's excursions! I'll especially miss Tim's weather forecasts!!! Judine's culinary skills will have you anticipating breakfast the night before and if you leave hungry, it's your own fault! Bob never let my coffee cup run dry..like I said, they are the perfect hosts. Our room (The Lake Placid), was immaculate, quiet and very cozy. The spa/jacuzzi tub really helped to relax us too. This is among the best stays we have had at a B&B. From the moment Judi welcomed us, we felt like friends. She and Bob are incredible hosts. They made sure that all the guests (there are three rooms) were introduced, which led to a very friendly atmosphere. Bob and Judine basically allow guests access to all common areas in the house. Our room did not have a refrigerator, but we were allowed to store food in the kitchen refrigerator. We had the Lake Placid room, which is on the second floor. The room is very comfortable and has an air tub. Robes were provided - what a nice touch! The inn is located just a few miles from town, in a lovely, quiet country setting. The grounds are lovely, as is the house. The breakfast room has a lovely view of flowers and bird feeders. Breakfast was a feast! Quiche, sausage, stuffed potatoes, and warm-from-the-oven blueberry muffins, also two types of juice and good coffee. I am lactose-intolerant, and Judine made me a special egg dish, and she also ensured that the muffins were dairy free. I almost forgot to mention that when we arrived, iced tea and lemonade, as well as nuts, cookies, brownies, and other goodies were available for guests in the kitchen. By the time we left, we felt like family. It was a wonderful stay, and we are so sorry that we could only stay one night. I hope we can return sometime and stay longer. If you are in the area, stay here!

We were lucky to visit southeast Michigan as the leaves peaked and were lucky to find the perfect place to stay! After a ride through the woods, a golden yard greeted us, along with Judine and Bob welcoming us warmly. The first-floor room - St. Moritz - was so comfortable with the king bed. We toasted our toes as we turned the chairs to the fireplace! Each morning the full trees greeted us out the bay window. The dining room offered beautiful views of the trees and offered a quiet retreat after a busy weekend. Best were our three breakfasts! Daily, Judine offered eggs, meat and a sweet treat, along with juices and Bob's delicious coffee. Over breakfast we chatted with them like old friends. Such a special time. They offered just the right amount of pampering, attention and care, and were so enjoyable! The inn is spotless, comfortable and beautiful. We will be back!

What was not to love? This quaint B&B did not disappoint. Every detail was outstanding and the owners were genuine and a true pleasure to be around. The room was immaculate, the breakfast was amazing, and we felt so pampered and cared for. We will be back for sure! Michelle and Shonda

We had a lovely time celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at the Black River Inn. We loved having the KalHaven bike trial minutes from the inn allowing us to bike east one day and west to Van Buren State Park the next. Bob and Jodine were excellent hosts. Breakfasts were super tastey and the flowers in the yard were beautiful! Sat in the gazebo with my first cup of coffee in the morning - so peacful. Didn't get a chance to use the large firepit as the days were too packed and warm but hope to try it on a cooler visit. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Thanks for a great weekend getaway!

We loved the Black River Inn! The hosts are so gracious and truly make it feel like a home away from home. And, the breakfast was fantastic. This B&B has all the small touches that truly make a weekend getaway special. Highly recommend!

We had a great time in South Haven this weekend. Our hosts, Bob and Judine, were very friendly, extremely helpful and just wonderful hosts. The room was comfortable, breakfast was excellent and it was an extremely fun trip. We will be going back. Thanks Bob and Judine.
