If you enjoy spending time in austere industrial style prison compounds then the Lodge is the place for you. This place has nothing to recommend itself. No tree or greenery, nowhere welcoming or pleasant to the eye or enhancing for one’s libido. No bowls, cups , cutlery or milk in the room. The concierge demands a bond which is laughable because the room is so rundown, in need of maintenance and lacking in amenity that you would be hard pressed to inflict any damage. You could steal the miserly inadequate kitchen things, but if you did, you would walk away with a couple of 20 year old items of scrap, or maybe souvenir the stained and beyond use-by date bed covers. I spoke with the manager about all of this and the unjustifiable $280 per night tariff. The manager was dismissive and said “You obviously don’t understand our business model”.

I travel alot for work. This is the best workers accom in Hedland. Dinners are great, lots of variety for crib and free laundry. Every room is secure and adequate. The landing is nothing compared to the lodge.

The building is old and dated, there was a broken electrical connection with exposed wires. The armrest of the couch was covered in dried up food that should have been removed when it was still moist, it looked like a toddler had eaten Weetbix or soggy toast on it. The TV was hard to use as could only find a small range of channels.

Arrived about 1pm after a long trip from Newman. Tried to book in as we had a reservation and was told to go away and comeback after 2pm. We did that and allocated a room that was hard to get to as we had to park well away from the room. Nothing special needs a complete upgrade. Whilst all the facilities are available it had a very small TV and the bed was most uncomfortable. For $260 a night the place is overpriced. Didn't bother with having a meal there.

Everything that everyone has written about this motel is absolutely true. We were charged $270 per night plus $37 each for a buffet dinner. We travelled from Perth where we were paying $120 per night and the apartment we were staying in at Perth was like a Palace compared to this place. Bloody disgusting. I asked the guy at reception how the hell can he be charging $270 per night for something that is not even worth $100 per night and his response was that all accommodation in South and Port Hedland charge this. Completely unacceptable. Food in the restaurant is very average you are better off going to McDonalds. I also agree with other comments..you would be off sleeping in your car then staying at this motel.

Arrived from Broome on our way home to Vic Very tired accommodation, worn out floors, old stained bathroom tiling, old dirty chairs, bleach stained bath towels . Bed ok , pillows ok. Think industrial utilitarian vibe . Workers from nearby mines stay here so buffet dinner aimed at good meat and veg , with some other noodle options etc. Dinner was ok . Warned on arrival to empty car of valuables with “ young kids getting over fences and breaking into cars “ risk . All good night we stayed . AC works well and is quiet - bonus ! Not usual we have found up here. Best rooms quietness wise , 20-26 - away from carpark and pool area which is used by workers staying there to catch up in the evening . Friendly staff trying hard to help . Glad we got a good rate as this is seriously “ budget” basic accommodation . Arrive late leave early to avoid it having to be anymore than a bed to sleep in.

This place needs to be closed down. There was a group of 64 of us staying here last weekend and the place is a pit. So dirty and unhygienic. No hot water, only some of the electricity working in some rooms. Washing machines still full of putrid water. Chairs broken. Mould. Cockroaches. No sheets on beds only covers and the rooms that did have sheets were dirty. It seems the rooms do not get cleaned at all. And to top it off the duty manager Coco Dong is a rude, unhelpful person who needs to look up what the word hospitality means. He is in the wrong business and should be sacked. Who owns this place anyway??

The accommodation providers in Hedland milk the mining companies and the poor traveller gets caught in the middle. This was the most expensive room on a 7-week trip, yet also the worst room of all. Old dirty furniture, parts of the room and bathroom were falling apart, clunky aircon, no servicing of rooms, no provision of extra pillows/blankets/iron/ toaster etc that would normally be expected, sheets were see-through thin, fridge was iced up and all the internal doors and shelves were missing . Pool was closed the whole time despite being 38 degrees. The owners should be totally ashamed. While it hurts, I recommend paying a bit more and stay somewhere that actually cares about its customers' comfort. The experience ruined the trip to Hedland actually. Local tourism and business leaders need to take this issue on.
