The location of the hotel is quite convenient for self-driving tours, but it may not be convenient for non-self-driving people. In addition, the car needs to be parked at the stadium opposite, and there are many cars parked there during the day.
The room is overall tidy, but the bathroom walls are a bit worse, but since there is basically no contact, it feels okay.

This hotel is not a place to stay for more than two nights. They do not clean your room and provide replenished supplies. You have to ask every time you need something, tissues toilet paper milk tea coffee clean towels soap. It is an hotel with many rooms but it seems as though there are only four disabled parking places close to the front of the hotel the last couple of nights the two disabled parking spaces were filled by expensive Porsches that did not display blue badges. Seems they think they can do what they like The parking is monitored by parking eye. Be careful as you may end up with a hefty parking charge from ******* like them It gets very noisy at the weekends, ask for ear plugs and they look at you stupid. Generally they could save a fortune by turning the hot water temperature down and using thermostatic mixer taps. The aircraft noise starts between 6am and 7 am. There seems to be a lot of secrecy you have to ask for menu’s then get told where to get it Be a good idea if they had menus in the rooms.food not bad reasonable price but would have liked menu in rooms Interesting caveats you don’t get a refund if you have a covid related issue or if Ukraine causes problems but they do not have any protocol’s in place about social distancing. The lifts are a free for all and there are no notices about about who should be in the lift . I think the rated capacity is 10 or 75 kg. I would like to see limits on lift capacity and stopping un related people entering the lifts. Three times I told people I did not want to share the lift but they still piled in so I left. One way to prevent this would be to not have interrupted journeys if you get in on floor 2 and want to go to ground floor do not stop at level 1. They seem to be more concerned with their profits than customer safety or protection. You can get rooms cheaper on other websites than their own checkin Would I be going back? ?? Not 100% sure yet but 99.99% I won’t be returning

We stayed in a room overlooking the roadway and (I think) our room's double glazing was compromised as we could clearly hear the noise of every passing car - some which were boy racers with high revs. We complained to reception (as they asked how our night had been) and they apologised. Wether they reported it I don't know.

The hotel is new, spacious and well equipped. There is a children's activity area in the hall where children can read and play, and older children can also play table football.
The hotel also offers dinner, and there is a bar for drinks.
The room is very spacious. Most of the holiday family rooms booked during the trip are in the same condition. This room is the most spacious. The sofa bed is still spacious and comfortable. If you are traveling with children passing by here, living here is very suitable.

I use a wheelchair & my daughter is my carer. So had an accessible room on the ground floor. We also had our dog with us. I have to say that all the staff across the board from top to bottom are so amazing. They are kind, caring, helpful and make time to listen if you need them. The breakfast is always fresh, hot & tasty. The room is always spotlessly clean & the bed is so comfortable. I would recommend this particular hotel to anyone. You are made to feel welcome & respected by every member of staff. Will return in the future, no question about it. A huge thank you to each & every member of the team. You are all amazing. The drive up to the castle was was fantastic as the view of the castle looked stunning.
The entrance to the court yard for parking was quaint and inviting. The look of the court yard looking at all the out buildings looked inviting and very well presented. The “stocks” make for great entertainment
The entrance to the reception is like looking for the secret door but the plaque at the side with history information explains why and is interesting to read.
Inside the reception is is quite dark but this for me added to the ambience of the place. The staff where welcoming, polite and explained the hotel set up.
We stayed in one of the room in the courtyard which was beautiful. Very nicely decorated and good value for money. The room was cozy.
We’d booked to have a meal in the Knights Restaurant and we had pre drinks in the bar first
The walk to the restaurant through the corridor into the central courtyard was very different yet beautiful. It’s so old and it was nice to see it was decorated and kept within “keeping”
The bar again was inviting and cosy and it was great to see that the drinks and wine list was very reasonably priced. So often places know you are a target audience and inflate the prices ridiculously however in our opinion the castle had not done this.
There was a good choice of cocktails and the “smoked” cocktails added that something a little bit different and we didn’t mind paying a few pounds more for the “quirkiness”. Again the staff where very professional, friendly and well presented.
The walk from the bar/lounge area to the Knights Restaurant was stunning through the corridors of the castle and past a lovely looking staircase and when we walked into the restaurant I was overwhelmed as it was stunning and not what I was expecting.
The arched ceiling, the lighting, the privacy of how the tables where set out we felt was very nice. We thought it all created a romantic setting. It was very secluded but included.
The menu choice was good and the food was beautiful. The service was great too and again the staff were very professional, polite and very well presented. The prices on the menu varied so I would say they’d catered fo most people’s budget and it was your own choice on how much you spend
Our nights sleep was comfortable and the walk back from the restaurant to the courtyard was well lit but again in keeping with been in a castle environment. Great use of mood lighting. My husband even went into the stocks on the was home (🤣)
Breakfast the next morning again did not disappoint. The selection was fantastic and plenty of food to choice from
Overall we can can not fault our experience. It was a lively venue with great facilities and very well presented. The staff where Courteous, polite, friendly and very well presented.
I would recommend this as a place to go and stay. We must go back so we can stay in one of the castle rooms as I am sure they would be as good and maybe even more “quirkier” than the courtyard rooms which were very nice.

EExplore25454065863Just returned home from a 3 night stay. Welcomed by a nice lady who showed us how to use the keyless system then we were left to it. Our room was a superior on the 1st floor, easy to get to up a few steps. The room was average sized with a fairly comfortable bed and a nice sized shower. Unfortunately 2 mornings the water was cold. I don't mind a cool shower but many won't. A few *******. The back of the wall on the toilet unit had a golf ball size hole in it which was sharp, and there were the odd cobweb. Only 2 portions of milk and one ginger biscuit (at least leave 2) Nothing to write home about. The bed was comfortable and there were nice big windows that could be opened to let the world in. A fan, hairdryer kettle etc and there was Netflix & a Google smart speaker which was very handy. Excellent location and yes, it can be a bit noisy but it's on a main street. The smells were amazing coming from all the restaurants. There was a little bar which the owners state could be utilised for a drink if you ask but I think they may be missing a trick by not using it as a selling point? Parking is plentiful around the place, the most you have to walk is a few yards ( and I have a blue badge). Thanks for having us Overall a lovely stay. Thank you
Joined family who were visiting for dinner, absolutely abysmal! My partner ordered black pudding to start and sea bass as a main, neither available so had to reorder, pate, came with half a slice of toast! Must be a shortage. Bowl of pasta came piled high but ruled as completely tasteless despite adding salt and pepper, not eaten. Tuna steak was way overdone chef has a heavy hand for such a delicate fish. Curry also ruled as tasteless. No one in a mood for dessert but my friend ordered a cheesecake as it looked nice. Advised it was inedible tasted like curdled cottage cheese. All in all a complete disaster and waste of money! Would I return? Resounding no!
I stayed at the Sea Hotel for two nights whilst visiting family in South Shields. Having read the other reviews on here I can assure you it really isn’t that bad! Yes, some parts of the place are a little dated and could maybe do with some love but we paid £80 per night on a weekend which is outstanding value for money (most places in the area were over £100 a night). The place was clean and the staff were friendly. The food was good value for money. We had breakfast both days which included cereal, orange and apple juice, yoghurts and pastries for free, we had a delicious steak for dinner on the Saturday night and the family joined us for a roast on the Sunday which was very tasty, especially considering it’s £14.95 for three courses!! The best part of this hotel is the location - beautiful view of the park, sea front literally over the road. Also a 10-15 minute walk to the town centre and the metro. I would definitely recommend this hotel to people coming to visit South Shields. It’s no frills but you aren’t paying for frills so it’s fine!!
