We recently stayed overall for 5 nights, using 3 different rooms. Each room (all inland facing…..in other words, overlooking the car park), were beautiful rooms with large bathrooms. The cheapest room actually had the biggest bed, the best shower, but less floor space. They all obviously vary, which is great, and all are beautifully furnished in keeping with the age of the building. We only had window blinds with the cheapest room, and could have done with them with all three rooms. No air con…just a small fan, which was completely ineffective. It was really difficult to sleep some nights because of the warmth of the room. Two fans, or a larger fan, would help, as I doubt they would install air con. The bathrooms were lovely, with fabulous towels, but not all had shelves for one’s own toiletries, and yet there was ample space in the room. This could be very easily addressed. No lift, but staff were more than willing to move our cases for us. Breakfast was fabulous. Fresh fruit, cereals, etc., and a wide choice of cooked items. The cooked breakfast menu shows prices, but these are for non residents who might call in for breakfast…..(not sure where they would sit as there’s no spare tables by the looks of things!) Unfortunately breakfast doesn’t begin until 8:00, which meant that we had to miss breakfast on two of our mornings, which was a real shame. I really think they should start breakfast at 7:00. The hotel no longer offers complimentary airport transfers, which is a shame; despite there being a LHM embossed car in the car park. The pool is just fabulous, and the pool area has comfortable loungers. Pool towels are provided. Unfortunately people were smoking right next to us, which I think is rather antisocial these days. There appeared to be a “smoking shelter” several metres away, but I noticed a very large ash tray on the table next to our loungers, so I presumed it was acceptable to smoke there?! The hotel no longer offers evening dinner. We walked into St Aubin each evening for a meal, which was fine for me, but my husband found it a bit of a struggle. When I booked our stay, evening meals were available. There are 2 or 3 bars, but, as far as I could see, no residents’ lounge. A shame for a hotel with such a high rating. Helpful and friendly staff. To summarise: a lovely hotel, but not without its faults. I would, however, definitely stay here again.
