A main reason for booking this hotel was for the pool. Unfortunately, despite consistently being told the pool was closed for cleaning it never opened during the entirety of our stay. Additionally, the surrounding grounds next to the hotel was covered in dangerous trash.

I don't know how this hotel has an 8.2 rating, especially given all the terrible reviews I'm seeing now. I didn't read them initially because of the high rating and the fact it's a Marriot - I assumed it would be fine. While the beds were clean, the rug was torn up, the couch was stained, and the appliances were all dented. While those are all cosmetic, I really expected more from a Marriot. And the pool, a big part of why we chose here, was super cloudy and really questionable. God knows what's going on in there. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

We learned immediately that the pool was closed. Very disappointed.

Cleaning crew left wet towels in the room, white powder falling from the ceiling from the little horse running upstairs, toilet leaking when flushed, blood on thd wall, pullout couch mattress was filthy. Front desk tried to accommodate however at 11pm it was too inconvenient to pack up 4 kids and move. Definitely requesting a refund.

Had a quick one night stay. My experience was consistent with the tenor of prior reviews - the property could use some love, but the team is great. Big shoutout to Sasha, who provided professional, friendly and kind service at check in. My elite status was recognized and I received an upgrade to a two bedroom suite. Since we were departing before the 6:30 am weekday start of breakfast I asked Sasha if there would be any grab and go bags available - she said no, but that we should be able to take some of the cold items which would likely be set up by our 6:15 departure. 15 minutes later there was a knock at our door - Sasha brought two gallon size zip lock bags with an assortment of fruit and yogurt for us - she said she didn’t want us to be delayed leaving in the morning. Our room was at the furtherest point from the front desk and it was 90+ degrees out so this was more than a quick and easy task. We really appreciated the personal attention and service that went above and beyond to make for a great stay - without us having to ask! I hope management appreciates and recognizes Sasha - she is a big asset to the property! As for the facility itself, it is obviously suffering under a cash constrained owner, with much of the property looking a bit tired. However our bathrooms seemed to have been redone within the past few years as the tile and fixtures were clean and newish. What was disappointing is that aside from capital items that will require a substantial investment there were plenty of routine maintenance items that the property should be able to address to make things appear a bit more loved. Things like touch up painting, zip tying the television cords so they are not hanging down in a big mess, clipping drapes onto rods properly, retouching furniture edges. That’s simple stuff that doesn’t cost a lot to address or take that much time. I used a Marriott free night so the price was right. If I was paying the hotel’s regular rates I would - like many other reviewers - have been disappointed in the condition of the property. The team, and Sasha in particular, were big standouts though.

This hotel is adequate but I could see where some people would be disappointed. Our room was a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite. The hallways and room was just okay and dated but it was quiet and comfortable. To start off, the kitchen garbage was overflowing when we walked in. That wasn't a good start. There was an electric start gas fireplace that didn't work. I appreciated the utensils but the drawer they were in was broken. The old time mechanical thermostat worked well. The in-room heat/AC worked well for us but the dust and dirt from the vents accumulated on the dated "popcorn" finished ceiling. The couch had visible stains on the cushions. I tried flipping the cushions but the other side was even worse. Our bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The TV in the bedroom was cleaned with a dirty rag and was very streaky. The tissue box in the bathroom had one tissue left with the blue line on it indicating to the cleaning staff that the box was empty. The bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Oddly, the way the property is designed with the parking, there are very few spots (4) by the front door, so you need to park further away to access your room. We used a side door to save time carrying our stuff. All in all, it was comfortable but not great.

For people who are loyal Marriott travelers, this place is a real disappointment. Housekeeping of common spaces was poor; dirty carpets and inadequate lighting. They tried to put us in a handicapped room at first. It was incredibly run down with exposed pipes in the kitchen area and furniture that was outdated. We refused that room and I will say our second room was a big improvement but in general, this place needs a complete overhaul and a good scrubbing. Incidentally, we booked this place based on a 4/5 rating on TripAdvisor. Sadly , I did not look at other reviews which are similar to mine. Marriott should disassociate its brand from these franchise owners. They are giving Marriott a bad name in Mystic.

We stayed here on a Saturday night. We did not have any of the problems with the room that other people recently have mentioned - everything in the room worked just fine and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was quiet and we slept well. The front desk staff were warm and friendly. The breakfast, I agree with many of the other comments. I've stayed here three other times in the past 5 years. Always looked forward to their breakfast buffet - a notch above similar hotel chains. This time the buffet offerings were sparse at best at 8:00am when we took breakfast. No fruit salad, one choice of yogurt flavors, no English muffins, no nothing. Just a lot of empty space. The first draw of coffee was lukewarm. 5 min later returned for more lukewarm coffee and the coffee urn was empty. I found the kitchen employee and she promptly brought out fresh coffee but I'm guessing that coffee is something she wasn't trained to check if the urn has been placed out for a while. I feel bad for the employees. Marriott's 2023 annual report states that the company had a banner year. Maybe it's time to reward your loyalty program members and your loyal employees by tossing some money to Mystic for a better breakfast experience.
