The Howard Arms

Came here for Friday evening meal. Location is perfect, plenty of car parking, ambience was fabulous- we were greeted by staff with nothing but smiles. We ate in the dining area and later moved into the bar area for drinks. Firstly, Mac was serving us who was delightful, chatty and just brilliant - he even apologised for the large group celebrating a special birthday a few tables away - which he didn’t need to do as they were just having a fabulous time. Option to order at the bar when we first arrived or get taken to our table when we first arrived. Drinks bought swiftly with time to presented menu. We shared the olives to start which were lush. For main I have the guinea fowl and my hubby had the chalk stream trout both were great portion sized but not overwhelming, full of taste & flavour. Really good quality & cooked to perfection! We shared a cheeseboard which had local cheeses - it was immense! We were joined by our son who dropped by - Mac got him a chair to sit him with us & made him feel very welcome. After dinner we moved into the bar area for a few drinks - ambience was still fabulous- we didn’t want to leave. I live that they don’t out a service charge on the bill so you have the option of giving a tip (should you want to) and his much. We cannot wait to return as we had such a fabulous experience- we’ll done to all the staff xxx

We spent 2 delightful nights here on a tour of the north Cotswolds; a good-sized room, with a beautiful bathroom and shower and a number of personal touches that are often not included in many hotels. We were fortunate to have a front-facing room overlooking the village green. There were always staff around to attend to guests’ needs – as well as keeping the log fire cracking in the lounge! All meals, breakfast as well as dinner, were tastefully served, with nothing too much trouble; and a broad selection of dishes from which to choose. We came as a result of a recommendation; the Howard Arms definitely lives up to expectations and we will return the next time we visit Hidcote, Kiftsgate, Batsford, Moreton-in-Marsh, etc. It is in a picturesque village, and is a considerable credit to its management and the dedicated staff.

A warm, wonderful heaven in the middle of the Cotswolds. Comfortable rooms and great, healthful staff. So nice sitting by the blazing fire having a evening drink 🍷 Great and unique cuisine 😃 Great little village to stroll around after a great hearty meal

What a gem of a place. We stayed two nights when we were at a wedding at Blackwell Grange this weekend. A lovely, airy room overlooking the garden, it was very well fitted out. A massive, comfy bed, lovely bathroom with products, and a fan which was useful as it was so very hot. The restaurant was well run, lovely staff and the food was excellent. The breakfast menu offered a very good choice of items, including the Howard Arms apple juice and an amazing cooked breakfast. I can't rate it highly enough. The customer service was second to none.

Every thing about the place was first class for us, room superb (The Oak Room), dinner was delightful, good food in pleasant surroundings. A splendid garden with lots of tables and chairs and the weather was brilliant, but there is a large outside undercover area just in case it rains. Staff were always on the ball and very pleasant. One down side which did not affect us was the lack of veggie/vegan options, only one on the menu, if that did not suit you had to rely on the chef conjuring up something you did like.
