Paradise Island Resort

Great thing is parking spot for our van that a little bit high but here we can park in front of the hotel not under. Everything is good except the wifi not strong enough.. on off on off.. It’s not new hotel but everything clean and great prices. Great location to walk to the beach and eating places

When we arrived at Paradise Island Resort, first impressions were fantastic. The lobby was peaceful, clean, and welcoming, and the facilities—including the pool, sauna, and gym—looked excellent. We were genuinely excited to settle into our room and enjoy a relaxing week away. Unfortunately, that excitement lasted only until we opened the door. The room appeared as though it had been forgotten rather than prepared for new guests. There was a thick layer of dust on the carpet, the light fittings were home to an impressive collection of bugs, and the walls were covered in scratches from furniture being moved over the years. The ceiling fans had so much dust built up they clearly hadn't been cleaned in months, and the windows still had handprints from previous guests. Even the fridge hadn't been cleaned before our arrival. The bedding wasn't much better. We were provided with only a bottom sheet and a stained blanket that looked like it should have been retired long ago. Unfortunately, cleanliness wasn't the only issue. Several parts of the room simply didn't function as they should. The kitchen tap leaked so heavily that washing dishes flooded the benchtop. The dishwasher wouldn't turn on at all. The bath couldn't be used because the diverter to switch from the tap to the shower didn't work. The ceiling fan shook so violently when switched on that it looked ready for take-off—along with launching months' worth of dust around the room. Even more concerning were the cracked electrical switches. They didn't exactly inspire confidence. If you're visiting the Gold Coast looking for thrills, I'd recommend skipping Movie World and simply charging your phone in this room—the unexpected jolt certainly gets the heart racing. The balcony was reasonably tidy, aside from the soggy tissue thoughtfully left behind by a previous guest. A charming finishing touch. The complimentary amenities were equally underwhelming: two coffee sachets, three sugar sachets, one tea bag, a small shampoo, and three bars of soap. Need another towel? That'll be an extra $3. Even the toilet paper was so thin it made the public bathrooms around Surfers Paradise seem luxurious by comparison. As someone who works as a cleaner, I was genuinely shocked by the condition of this room. If I left a property in this state, my manager would have me back immediately to finish the job properly. This wasn't a matter of high standards—it simply wasn't clean or adequately maintained. It's disappointing because the resort itself has so much potential. The common areas and facilities create the expectation of a quality stay, but the accommodation falls well short of that standard. For the price we paid, this was simply unacceptable. I've stayed in budget motels that were cleaner, better maintained, and better equipped. Paradise Island Resort, you have a beautiful property. Now it's time to give the rooms the same level of care as the lobby. Do better.

If I can give an overall rating for this hotel, I will definitely give it a "0". This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in my years of travel. The condition of the premises was so fundamentally deficient as to render the accommodation completely unfit for habitation Our experience represented a significant departure from acceptable standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance. I have itemized the specific failures below, with attached pictures. 1. Biohazards and Vermin Infestation: Upon opening the kitchen drawer, we discovered deceased remains of cockroaches—including legs, wings, and oothecae (egg cases)—within the kitchen drawers. Furthermore, a live, wingless cockroach approximately 2.5 inches in length was observed traversing the bathroom. When this was reported to the reception staff in the morning, the excuse was tendered that "in tropical Brisbane, cockroaches could fly in." This explanation is not only misleading but also an admission of a pest control failure, as it fails to account for the presence of deceased remains and eggs, which are indicative of an established infestation, not transient entry 2. Health and Safety Hazard (Bed Bug Bites): The most egregious breach of hygiene occurred in the sleeping quarters. Upon waking, my son-in-law presented with numerous, distinct bite marks on his hands and legs. These marks are consistent with insect bites, and we have strong reason to believe, based on the other evidence of pest infestation throughout the unit, that they were sustained from bed bugs within your premises. This constitutes a serious health risk and is wholly unacceptable. 3. Structural and Maintenance Deficiencies: · An old, broken coffee table was abandoned on the balcony, with rotting material from its surface scattered across the floor, creating a debris field and a potential trip hazard. · A significant accumulation of dust and debris was present beside the refrigerator and washing machine, alongside a dirty broom, indicating a complete lack of routine cleaning. · The kitchen cabinet doors were faulty and inoperable, failing to close entirely. It is important to note that these deplorable conditions were discovered upon our return to the room late in the evening. We had earlier gone out almost immediately upon checking in. It strongly indicates the room was not cleaned or inspected prior to arrival. We diligently reported the matter to the receptionist the following morning. He acknowledged our grievances and instructed us to submit a written complaint to management, yet failed to provide a formal complaints procedure or a specific complaints form, further demonstrating a lack of proper operational protocol. We formally wrote an email to the GM highlighting the above and asked for a full refund but was turned down. We shall proceed to report to the relevant authorities.

I thought because of the price, it wouldnt be that great but we were so blown away. The view is gorgeous, the location is perfect and it’s so lovely while still cozy. Staff were great and the amenities were a great way to spend an evening, 10/10 recommend!!

Excellent location, only 5-minute's walk from Surfers Paradise tram station. Many restaurants within walkable distance.

Nice clean room & view. Biggest let down was staff. The lady at front desk didn't smile at all- even when checking in, & didn't look up from what she was doing to smile or greet us even though we walked past 5 or 6 times. Eventually I said hello & asked how she was, to which she said "Hi" but still no smile. The man at checkout at least smiled but didn't engage us in any conversation or ask about our stay. Pretty unimpressed by the lack of customer service.

Was a really great time and very helpful staff and close to all of our families. Walking distance to shops and beach. Trams just a few minutes away, secure parking and great gym

I liked this hotel location, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings.

The accommodation area was really nice, spacious, and had a wonderful view. It had some great amenities that we needed, such as glasses for water and cups for coffee. We really enjoyed our stay there!
