Had lunch at the inn with my elderly mother and little boy and was amazed at the standards of the inn. I grew up on the isle of Sheppey so have visited many times over the years and it always on ok place to go, this was my first time back for probably 5 years as I have now moved from the area and was amazed at how the place has came on. The Harty Ferry (as we always called it) was always set in an idilic location being very close to the Swale estuary but they have now transformed the venue to higher levels, the pub was pretty much the same as it has always been which is very quaint but immaculately kept and very clean, but it was the food that really surprised me, myself and my mum had the pickled crudités with Kent rarebit and skin on chips and it was honestly the best thing I’d eaten in ages (& I consider myself a restaurant standard cook) with the marmalade sponge for desert, with my little boy having the small house burger and fries and double ice cream, the food is absolute knock out & the fact that all ingredients are sourced locally if not on site is a massive plus also, very friendly staff who were also very attentive, small issue with being charged for a couple of drinks we didn’t have but was sorted straight away and very apologetically refunded but in my opinion completely understandable as they was also hosting a large wedding party at the time. This place is a true hidden gem, seek it out and enjoy, it’s really worth it.
