Swandown Hotel

I hate writing bad reviews, but this truly is the worst hotel I’ve ever (not ended up) stayed in, and I’ve spent a night at hotel ass in cologne. Spent about an hour here , had two rooms for four adults and one child. Given one towel per room , both toilets broken in each room , sink units held together with duct tape , bedding appeared clean but pillows and mattress/bed were disgusting. Mould , wires , dirt , carpet stains in both rooms. A shame because I hate leaving bad reviews, I always like to give the benefit of the doubt. But this place is really really bad. On the plus side , it does have free parking out the back! We ended up booking an ibis at short notice about 5 minutes away.

Arrived at this hotel that I had booked nearly a year ago to be told at 730pm there is no room and my booking is cancelled. There were already 2 other separate bookings in front of me also with the same problem, booked but no rooms and the bookings cancelled WITH NO NOTIFICATION!! The manager said its not her problem and its *********** or whatever other booking sites fault. To be honest the place looked like a dump anyway so I probably had a lucky escape all be it at the last minute expense of having to book last minute into another hotel on a busy weekend!

Dont book here. They are selling rooms they don t have and do not care a dot for the customer. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I have never ever experienced such a slack, could not care less attitude in my life. Disgusting oudgt to be barred from running a business.

This is honestly the worst hotel I EVER booked. It was that bad we never stayed in the hotel.. we had to find and book another one for one night last minute. It was filthy it stank it was absolutely disgusting. I was a mum on my own with my teenage daughter and her two friends travelling when I asked The hoss if it was safe for us to stay as we had this uneasy feeling he told us instead of the 3 rooms we book led we should all sleep in a family room in the attic as that would be safer for us all. He told us he housed homeless men that drunk a lot and we should sleep together. At that point I asked for a refund and we left. We was refused any refund at all and we left. Sat crying on the street we was lucky to check into the ibis hotel. I honestly feel this hotel needs to be shut down it was unsafe and you are at risk of healthy and safety concerns.

Absolutely disgusting, I walked out of this hotel and went elsewhere. The room was filthy, used earbuds left on the bedside table, rubbish left in the room, dead bugs on the carpet,, room hadn't been vacuumed, stains on the carpets and curtains, brown stained toilet, shower try was black with dirt and mouldy. Bathroom floor was filthy with *****. wires hanging out the wall, towels were small and shredded with holes in. Rest of the hotel was filthy too, nothing like the pictures they have online. Piles of rubbish out the back, strewn across the car park.

I stay over in Swindon 2 nights a week for work. My usual accommodation wasn’t available for 2 weeks so I booked short notice via ***********. To be fair I am not fussy, I just need a comfy bed and a shower/loo. I stayed in room 17 (at the top rear looking over car park). After walking through the entire hotel, feeling pretty horrified at the state of the place, I was relieved my room was actually tidy. My sheets were crisp white and clean and I couldn’t see any stains. I slept well both nights and had a good powerful and hot shower both mornings. Now for the bad bits! Buckle up! 1 - on arrival I rang bell a few times then called the hotel. I was eventually let in. 2 - despite breakfast being advertised on *********** one of the first things the staff said to me was “there is no breakfast”. This did not bother me as I had already decided I would not be eating anything while staying at Swandown. I had massive concerns for the cleanliness. 3. I thought I had walked into the wrong hotel at first. The pictures on *********** are not at all accurate and possibly many years old. The hotel is very run down and grubby. For how cheap my room was I didn’t expect much but this was not pleasant. 4. I have seen another reviewer consider if this is “bail hostel”. I am thinking exactly the same, or if it is somewhere the council are putting people that are waiting for housing. There were a lot of people around who were clearly not your regular hotel “guest”. 5. They were hoovering outside my bedroom door and the 2 rooms either side of me at 20:45 (who does that???) 6. There are frequent comings and goings from rooms and they are definitely not quiet about it. 7. Black mould round windows, shower, bathroom tiles. 8. People smoke in the rooms. Personally I don’t care but I know this would be very uncomfortable for others. Something definitely isn’t right here. I was wondering how on earth this hotel makes any money? Then a thought entered my head that I think I will not share on here! Put it this way, i didn’t feel safe. As much as there is a code on the front door, I never had to use it because both front doors were ajar every time I went through them. There was even a sign on the door saying “please keep open”. Whoever the owner is, I think they have given up! I won’t be going back because I really didn’t feel safe when in communal areas. I only felt safe when I was in my room with the door locked. Even with my low expectation this was bad! I wouldn’t recommend this and don’t hold out any hope for its future
