JW Marriott Hotel Taiyuan

My stay at JW Marriott Taiyuan Maoye exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is excellent, with direct access to the Maoye Tiandi commercial area, making travel, dining, and shopping very convenient. The room was spacious and elegant, with a great view from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The cleanliness was meticulous, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. The mini-bar offered several complimentary soft drinks, which was a nice touch. The front desk and room service staff were professional and courteous, friendly without being intrusive. The breakfast had a wide variety of options, and the executive lounge maintained high quality. Both the facilities and service lived up to JW Marriott's luxury positioning. However, the only minor drawback was the bathtub, which was the smallest I've ever seen – a bit too small to lie down in comfortably.

I've been staying at the JW Marriott Taiyuan since its opening year. I've witnessed the quality control of the Executive Chef during breakfast, the abundant afternoon tea preparations at the Executive Lounge, the sleep spray during turn-down service, and the highlights of the independently managed fitness center. Now, the large chunks of 'tounao' (a local lamb dish) at breakfast have become slices, and the fitness center is managed by a third party. Even with the hotel being fully booked during the National Day holiday, the overall service quality remains unaffected, and the enthusiasm from the front desk, F&B department, and housekeeping is still exceptional! No hotel is perfect, and it's inevitable for hardware to age and for opening-year quality to diminish. However, I still hope JW continues to lead as a high-quality hotel in Taiyuan.

Since we were traveling with our child, they specially arranged for us to be on the same floor and even upgraded our room. The service was excellent, the environment was very nice, and the room was clean. It's definitely worth coming back to. The executive lounge was great, and breakfast was also good. The toothbrushes were made of bamboo, which is very eco-friendly. The hotel's location is also excellent, making it very convenient for getting around.

The environment is great, and the service is attentive and friendly – easily one of the best in Taiyuan. My kids absolutely loved the themed room, which totally freed up the parents. The breakfast was rich and served for a long time, until 11 am. Very satisfied, we'll definitely choose this place again next time!

I booked an executive suite for over 2700 a night, thinking that since it's the most expensive hotel in Taiyuan, it must be the best. But when I arrived, there wasn't even anyone to help with luggage. The breakfast was absolutely terrible, so bad that I practically lived on two small steamed buns every morning – anyone who's eaten it knows how awful it is. I've never had to queue for breakfast at a hotel before, it's ridiculous. The room windows weren't soundproof at all; the street noise kept me up all night! If you're sensitive to noise, definitely don't stay here. The worst part was that I stayed for several nights, and they cleaned the room every day without mentioning any issues. But when I checked out, they withheld my 1000 deposit, claiming I had to pay 1000 for a scratched floor repair. What the **bleep**! If the deposit had been 5000, they'd probably demand 5000 for repairs. My hand was actually cut by a protruding nail under the public restroom door handle in the room, but I couldn't be bothered to make a fuss with the hotel, and they had the nerve to turn it around on me. It just goes to show, the most expensive isn't always the best. I'll never stay here again! Does anyone know if I can call 12345 to complain and claim compensation for my injury from the hotel? I honestly don't have the energy or need the compensation enough to deal with a place like this!

After finishing the Taiyuan Marathon, I decided to extend my stay for a few more days and chose the recently opened Maoye Marriott. As usual, I'll start with the downsides. The hotel shares a parking lot with Maoye Tiandi, and although there are designated parking spots for hotel guests, the management clearly needs improvement. This was the only flaw, the only point deduction, otherwise, the Taiyuan Maoye Marriott would undoubtedly be a solid five-star hotel! The hotel's location doesn't offer much in terms of views, but being right above a shopping complex and having direct access to Maoye Tiandi makes it incredibly convenient for shopping. The service was impeccable, maintaining the high standards expected of a Marriott property. I must particularly commend the executive lounge. The happy hour offerings were incredibly generous, and they even had freshly made knife-cut noodles! It's hands down the best hotel lounge I've experienced to date.

The room decor was average, just acceptable, which is expected for this price point. What really bothered me was being bitten awake by bugs at 3:30 AM. I had to ask the hotel for an electric mosquito repellent. I ended up with three bites, and it took me over an hour to fall back asleep because of the itching. What's even worse is that no one from the hotel has bothered to check in on me or ask about my bites! This is really frustrating and completely falls short of five-star hotel service standards!

The environment is great, right next to Maoye Shopping Mall, which is very convenient. The breakfast is also plentiful. The breakfast, fit for a carb-lover, was all delicious.

My wife and I stayed at the JW Marriott for one night for the Taiyuan Marathon. We chose an executive king room. **Cleanliness:** The hotel was exceptionally clean, spotless. The room was also very tidy and clean. Full marks! 💯 **Environment:** The hotel felt relatively new. The public areas, restaurant, executive lounge, gym, and lobby all had a very elegant ambiance, standing out as excellent among similar hotels. 👍 **Service:** We encountered a minor issue upon check-in, but it was perfectly resolved with the assistance of the Director of Rooms. The staff were incredibly friendly. Because my wife had to leave early for the marathon and would miss breakfast, the executive lounge staff kindly prepared bread, honey, and bananas for her, which we really appreciated. 🙏 The variety of food for afternoon tea and happy hour was superior to most hotels of similar quality, and the taste was excellent, especially the desserts – sweet but not cloying, very delicious. The executive lounge staff were also very welcoming and accommodating, promptly clearing dishes. The service was top-notch. Breakfast offered many local Taiyuan specialties like knife-cut noodles, 'cat ear' pasta, and lamb offal soup, and the service was attentive. Full marks! 💯 **Facilities:** This is my only complaint. The room designer made some questionable choices in many areas. The shower and toilet are both enclosed with transparent glass, which can cause many inconveniences. For example, if two people are staying, and one is showering or using the toilet, you can't order room service, call for luggage, or have hotel staff enter the room, otherwise they'll get a direct 'view.' The bathtub is too small, at most 1.2m x 1.2m; a person can't even sit comfortably in it. What's the point of such a small tub? Additionally, there's no gap at the bottom of the shower door. If you put a bath mat there, it gets pushed aside every time the door opens, making it useless. Also: The gym is outsourced. The service is good, but there's a serious lack of strength training equipment. If 3-4 people want to train at the same time, you'll have to wait in line. **Summary:** This is a hotel with very enthusiastic service and an excellent environment. However, due to the designer's **choices, there are noticeable flaws in the hardware facilities, but these don't significantly impact the stay. It's still a highly recommended hotel.
