The town is very clean, there is a FamilyMart downstairs, and it is within walking distance to the shrine. You can try Kagura at night. The canyon is very beautiful and not very large. You can visit it in 1 hour. The weather is not very good, so avoid the rainy season at the end of June!

The location of the hotel is not the best if you are traveling without a car. But in general it doesn't take that long to get to the bus station. There is a tourist railway next to the hotel and a 24-hour store right below the hotel.
