The location is convenient, the room is smaller than expected, and the staff is friendly. I travel to Japan often and have stayed in Japanese hotels many times. This is the first time I have experienced such poor hygiene. When I went to bed at night, I opened the bed and saw suspected blood stains and hair on the bed. It was really It's so unacceptable that the bed is also used by guests in such a slanderous manner? When I opened the towel in the hotel shower room, there were several hairs in the towel. I chose this hotel because I wanted to have a comfortable experience. I was very disappointed.

Generally speaking, it is clean, but there are a lot of mold spots in the wooden bathtub. I don't know how the hotel can turn a blind eye. I chose this hotel because the reviews all praised the breakfast. It was not bad, but if I stayed for two nights, eating the same breakfast over and over would be a bit monotonous. The bed was very comfortable.

I choosed this hotel based on the reviews , big mistake if you are looking for a hotel and good hotel services . First , its a very small hotel, no lounge , only a 2 m reception desk with reception lady till 8 pm . Did not gave us any info about room and second day we asked her to fix something not working in the bathroom wich she did not till we left . The second lady receptionist did not knew english so she could not answer to our request. The bathroom had a panel only in japanese so we could not use it properly. They insist to tell us they are eco hotel and maybe we do not want cleaning every day. I do not recomand this " hotel ". The position is ok, the room is ok , clean but here ends all the good things.

Decent hotel, standard rooms for Japan but satisfactory, bathroom with cherry tub. Breakfast a little poor for European standards but the kindness of the managers makes up for it. Friendly and efficient reception. Good location, in the center of the town and close to tourist places

Modern, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and quite large room. The staff speaks English, and breakfast in the morning is included. It is exactly 10 meters from the bus station, so perfect for the classic overnight stop in Takayama. Advised

There are a lot of "supers" about this hotel: - Super nice design. There are a lot of hotels in Japan that are on the cheaper end of mid-range that fail in the design category, but not the Eph Takayama. - Super close to the train station. It was an easy walk with our carry-on, wheely suitcases. - Super close to old town and the various Takayama attractions. - Super breakfast and coffee/tea/cocoa station. The breakfast was more like lunch (panini, salad, and soup), but it was all freshly made and delicious. There was also a coffee/tea/cocoa machine that was available to guests from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. - Super convenient to have coin laundry available in the hallway. We took full advantage of this! If we ever go back to Takayma I won't bother looking for anywhere else to stay - the Eph it is!

One of the, if not the, best hotels on our trip. Hotel is wood accented throughout and the hotel has a new and fresh modern aesthetic. Location is fantastic and within easy walking distance of central Takayama and a number of good restaurants serving local food. Comfortable well-appointed rooms, super helpful staff, outstanding morning breakfast, not to mention the excellent teas and coffee available throughout the day. Could not have been better and recommend a stay here. Hotel can be a little hard to find because it has an understated entrance. Just a tourist’s preference but it would be nice if there were some English translations available for the TV remote and at least one English station available for news.
