The holiday home provides guests with a terrace, mountain views, a seating area, satellite flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchenette with a microwave and a toaster, and a private bathroom with shower and a hair dryer. Lampi Waterfall is 28 km from the holiday home, while Nam Tok Lam Pi is 29 km from the property. Phuket International Airport is 73 km away, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service.

We stayed for 4 nights with 2 young children (1 and 7 years old). We arrived after a very long trip flying into Phuket from Amsterdam. We were the only guests staying before they closed for the season, but we never felt not welcome. On the contrary ;-)Mr Aom and his family took excellent care of us. We stayed in the family house on the ground floor which with our kids was great. Really really comfortable beds. They did not have a baby bed but provided us with a small matras that we put of the floor of the second bedroom. On our request they made us a daily breakfast that was simple but homemade and more than enough to start our day. You will need transport to get around Khao Lak as everything is spread out. We rented scooter from the resort. We really enjoyed Memories Beach bar, could easily have spend a day there. Best food we had was at Krua Thai restaurant, probably best in all our holiday, so do make the effort to go there. Also easy to spend a whole afternoon as the beach is gorgeous. We took the jungle trail to Small Sandy Beach, which was challenging with the kids but the beach itself is absolutely worth it. You can also take the easy 400mtr dirt road (we didn't know that...) A couple meters from the resort is Happy Snapper, a lovely restaurant with a great garden to explore. We tried the night market in Khoa Lak but were a bit disappointed by the quality of the food. All in all we truly enjoyed our stay at Grandfather Resort and Khao Lak was a good choice for us. Mr Aom arranged our transport to our next stop Khao Sok which was all well taken care of. We stayed for 3 weeks, in a beach villa, over Chris**as and New Year leaving the 2nd week in January. The villas are older than the rest of the resort, and were built after the 2004 tsunami, however they are well maintained and comfortable. The hotel is an easy walk to the nearest restaurants if people want a change from the hotel one which was competitively priced. All the staff were cheerful and very helpful and seemed to enjoy working there which is a good sign. Many things organised, complementary afternoon tea/coffee and biscuits/cake, cheap shuttle at 6pm to the near village and Khaolak Central. On Boxing day a candle lit remembrance service was held on the beach and the NYE party was very good with lots of different food, music and Thai dancing,very memorable. All the staff were exceptional, putting in hours of work putting up then taking down the stage, lighting and seating for the show as well as totally reorganising the restaurant area. We did not go inside any rooms in the modern hotel area as we like villas however looking in they look comfortable and more modern. No hesitation in recommending this hotel and we hope to stay there again.

Ideal location directly opposite a very nice beach for swimming with children and a short walk from a range of market stalls and genuine restaurants where you sit on bamboo tables with your feet in the sand. Located in the best part of Bang Sak beach, because it’s near where Thais go, not just European tourists like 1-2km to the north and south. Hotel facilities are ageing a bit - some drains smell bad, wire doors don’t quite fit and the pool bar looked like it had not been open for several years, but it’s clean and staff are making an effort to maintain the place. Our adjoining coconut rooms in a peaceful garden setting with a good breakfast worked well for us. Monkeys harvested the coconuts while we were there and squirrels played up the trees. Nice to be separated from the bigger louder resorts.

This hotel consists of bungalows which are spacious and clean with a balcony out front. I have read the other reviews that the rooms are modern but I have to disagree. The room itself is full of outdated dark wood furniture with old fashioned curtains and a dated tiled bathroom with a weak shower and toilet. The bed linen is not white but patterned and the towels are also dark coloured which is unusual. Beds are quite hard in the Thai style. There are no coffee or tea making facilities in the room but there is a fridge. The air conditioning unit is the best we have had and really efficient. The TV did not work which was not a problem anyway. The grounds are pretty and the pool area has a few sunbeds and plenty of shade can be found. The pool is well designed with steps and 2 ladders which is better for older people. It is rather deep and nice to swim in but probably not ideal for children. Wi-Fi is good in the bungalow and there is a safe. The price we paid seemed rather a lot for this type of property without breakfast but it is peak season. The staff seem friendly enough and the location is just across the road from the beach. It is about 13 minutes walk up the road to most of the bars and restaurants but it is nice and quiet. Although this was only a short stay we did enjoy it here and would consider staying again if the price was right.

Perfect for the price! Just a stone throw away from the beach. Quiet but lively. Well kept resort. Clean, comfortable, tentative staff. Nice pool and good variety for compact breakfast. Will definitely stay here again!

Great location on a lovely beach. Only 5 minutes into Khao Lak in a taxi (100bhts) or 150bhts for 4 people. Rooms were very spacious. The bed was very hard BUT ask reception and they will have a mattress topper put on straight away, this was much better. Bathrooms were a little dated but everything worked. Found it a little odd to have the wardrobes, kettle and fridge in the bathroom but they are in a cupboard so had no issues with it. The aircon kept the rooms super cool. Pools and bar were lovely, although it was a bit of a sunbed challenge to get a towel on while we were there. The massages in the hotel were super. All the staff were helpful, and seemed very happy We would most definitely go back there, a very relaxing, tranquil, peace of heaven
