BARYS HOTEL

I arrived in Almaty late at night and had a connecting flight the next morning, so I was looking for a hotel close to the airport and ended up here. It's about a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport, and there isn't much around in terms of amenities. However, there aren't many hotels that close (within 20 minutes) anyway, and there's a convenience store just a 5-minute walk away. The facilities themselves were also perfectly fine, which was a plus. The only downside is that the breakfast provided in the morning is quite meager, so don't expect to fill up before heading to the airport. If I ever have another overnight layover at Almaty Airport, I would definitely consider staying here again!

Terrible hotel. We arrived on the night of May 2nd to 3rd, and there was no water at all. The next day, only cold water was available. I don't understand why hotels even open in places with such severe utility problems. The cleaning was subpar. There were brown stains and hairs on the toilet, and a huge fly was buzzing around. There's no soundproofing; we could hear our neighbors snoring throughout the night. Also, when we booked, it said we'd have a room with a mountain view, but it turned out our room was on the opposite side.

Decent. The room was spacious and the linen clean. It's a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport. Buses to the city center are available right outside the hotel. On the downside, we had to let the water run for a long time to get hot water, and the cleanliness of the windows and hard-to-reach areas in the room left much to be desired. For breakfast, there was rice porridge, biscuits, bread, and sausages, but we might have arrived late and missed some items. The reception desk was often unattended, but you could call someone from the backroom downstairs. They didn't speak English at reception, and only a little Russian, but we managed to communicate. Overall, it's not a bad option for an overnight stay between flights.

Hard to recommend this place. Breakfasts are just okay, the location saves it, but the hotel itself is slowly falling apart.

Even though I arrived early in the morning on short notice and only stayed for a few hours, they kindly accommodated me, and I was able to get some comfortable rest! Thank you so much! It's about a 15-minute ride from the airport by Yandex Go, so I highly recommend it if you want to rest quickly. It said breakfast was included, but it wasn't provided on either of my two nights.
