Capitán Suizo Beachfront Boutique Hotel

Right on beach with direct access and lounge chairs in private area. Decent waves on the beach in front for boogie boarding. Nice pool surrounded by chairs. Unlike many other resorts I stayed there was no rush to the pool or the beach to put towels on the chairs to “reserve” them. There’s plenty of room and chairs. Just a very chill environment. Cats and raccoons roaming the property and even in the lobby at one point, but it just seems to go with the charm of the place and didn’t bother me a bit. Was woken up one morning with eight howler monkeys above my balcony, including their babies. The rooms are huge, with a sitting area, as well as the bathrooms. There’s no TV in the room, but I never had an opportunity to miss one. The grounds are beautiful, like a lush oasis. The bar was lively and the restaurant was very good. The complementary breakfast was average. The resort is located just outside the chaotic town of Tamarindo. Had a very isolated feel. Big free parking lot. The staff was very helpful at one point I went up and asked about a close restaurant and before I knew it they were on the phone with them making sure they had a table for me. I highly recommend this place if you want a great beach experience in Tamarindo.

This is a beautiful hotel nestled in nature. The rooms were comfortable and classy. The service was friendly and helpful. Loved that this is locally owned and small in size. The breakfast included was perfect and delicious. Local fruits, fresh made eggs to order and local foods. Loved this hotel. Highly recommended.

We just returned from 4 wonderful days at the Capital Suizo. The property is stunning and, we thought, had the best location on the beach. Much less crowded beach area but you could easily walk to everything. We loved our bungalow, including the beautiful bathroom and outdoor shower. They had tons of games for our kids to play. And the included breakfast was the biggest bonus - the spread was wonderful.

We stayed at Capitán Suizo for my daughter’s graduation present which I had been saving up for all year long. As soon as we walked in to the reception area, we were immersed in the feeling of being in a magical place, filled with cats, good smells and friendly staff, willing to help with your every need. We stayed in room 54 which was incredibly spacious and air conditioned. It also had a balcony which made it extra special. The bathroom was large and had complimentary shampoo, conditioner and body lotion which were actually better than the stuff o brought! My only complaint was the road noise is very loud as well as the construction by the room so I would recommend bringing a pair of good ear plugs to wear at night! The bar and restaurant were phenomenal. Angel, Pablo & Manuel made every day special by their bright smiles and personable service. I felt the genuinely loved their job and the guests that stay there. The lady at the concierge desk was incredibly helpful from booking our transportation and excursions, to helping me schedule an appointment with a medical doctor. A couple of things to point out, there are monkeys that howl and getting to see them is a real treat. They have several dogs and cats on the property that are friendly and might follow you around if you are lucky! Iguanas and read squirrels can be found roaming the property and even jumping in the pool! ( from what the staff told me). Also, the town of Tamarindo is walking distance and is full of things to do! I will definitely be back here next year for a more romantic trip with my partner. I will start saving up now!

Loved it !!

We had just had an amazing stay in LaFortuna and expected close to the same with our stay at this hotel because of its great reviews. We felt completely scammed. I gave this hotel 1 star because it did have working AC, otherwise I wouldn’t give it that much. We checked in later afternoon about 4pm, so it’s not dark yet. We noticed huge ants crawling all over the room. The walls, the floor, the bed drapes, the drying towels in the bathroom . It was awful. We had just left the rainforest and didn’t have any insect problems, so I knew it wasn’t a “Costa Rica” thing, there was a problem with the hotel. I went to the front desk and spoke with Cristian O. I asked if the room we were in was infested or if it was a problem throughout the hotel. Not sure if he was new to the job, but he seemed shocked that I was asking and didn’t know how to handle the situation. I told him that we had gone out to buy spray because the problem was so bad. They never followed up with us to be sure we didn’t continue having problems and of course we did. By far one of the worst hotel stays I have had. One night we were headed out to dinner and were met by 2 large raccoons that were just allowed to roam the lobby and eat cat food that they keep out for the stray cats in the area. It was just a pretty unsafe feeling and very unsanitary. We never ate our complimentary breakfast there for obvious reasons and ended up getting day passes to a beach club a little further down the beach that was a little better manicured than the area in front of the hotel. I DO NOT recommend this hotel! It was awful and it was not cheap!!! Also, there are no T.V.’s in the room. I assume the idea is that you will be out on the beach the majority of the time, however, it does rain quite a bit, which if you are traveling with kids might mean an early night in. We travel with our fire stick and were pretty bummed on those rainy nights that we couldn’t go back to our room to watch a movie as a family.

What a gem! Beach front with great beginner friendly surf, beautiful pool, and the restaurant has diverse cuisine that is fresh and tasty. Staff is exceptional: extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. Rooms are spacious, clean, and quiet.

Beautiful property with uncrowded grounds and beach. Convenient to center of Tamarindo but out of the fray. Great place to relax and enjoy the beach, the pool, wildlife and grounds and friendly staff.

Spectacular is what I would say about our stay at Capitan Suizo, such a beautiful resort with the most amazing staff. The location was perfect with only a short walk to town and the beach was perfect, quiet and beautiful. The breakfast included every morning was an added benefit , the perfect way to start our day , we can’t wait to come back , we loved it there and the people were amazing!!
