On Monday, March 7, we were staying with my family and I in this hotel and we had an incidence with the bathroom as it was fully attached, with all that it involves having children. With the aggravating of being almost morning (7 of the morning) , the two employees who attended us did it in a magistral way, resolving the problem in 10 minutes. The receptionist quickly gave us a room card that was empty for if we needed to get into the bathroom, at last it was not necessary to use it, but there is the detail. The cleaner in 5 minutes resolved the attack.

The rooms are tiny. Paper thin walls. No bathroom door. Just a swinging glass door. Anything that happens in the bathroom is heard throughout the room. No in room coffee. If you are used to AC Marriott levels of service you will be disappointed here. We booked a family room for our family of three. We requested a higher level floor corner with a view. We received confirmation that the hotel would do everything they could to accommodate our request. The room they gave us was interior with a view of a brick wall and it was so small the three of us could barely stand at the same time, and no place to sit just on the bed. When I asked about them accommodating our request they told me that the people that respond to specific requests have no idea what types of rooms are available in the hotel. The reception staff was friendly yet very novice and did not understand the concept of taking care of the guest. I requested ice to take to our room and 15 minutes later, while waiting in the lobby, I received a little bucket with eight cubes of ice and was told the charge would be one euro for the ice. There was no manager on duty. Reception staff told me that this Hotel is for individual business travelers, not families. This is true. We had to purchase an additional room at full price to accommodate our son. The family room is not large enough to accommodate three people comfortably. We will not be staying here again and will be very hesitant about booking accommodations with AC Marriott again…

Hotel was in a great location, close to the beach, train station and lots of cafes/shops / restaurants. Everything was walkable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - eventhough we speak very limited spanish. Pastries and bottled water were provided each morning and there were tea and coffee facilities in the lobby. The hotel air conditioning was really strong, we never felt too hot overnight and the room was very clean and well presented!

Good first impressions - well put together hotel with great amenities and nice staff. First evening I ordered room service - It took over 1hour 15 minutes to arrive, and that's after I went to ask at the reception. Also the room door wouldn't shut properly - it was still open when it seemingly had clunked shut - but this was dealt with swiftly, thank you. First shower I had - oh dear - it has a head with one narrow spray (not like a regular/ normal round or rectangular one) that fires at you almost horizontally and in a narrow clump (irritating and impractical) - so even when you try and slow the pressure, it still goes to the back of the bath, over the bath end, and swamps the bathroom - firstly you simply cannot shower with such a dumb 'design student' reject style shower head, and secondly you'll spend several minutes after finishing having a shower, using up all the towels to mop the bathroom floor, and leave them in a giant wet mess, only to start smelling during the night - terrific (not) ! The last time I experienced a shower head that went only horizontal over the back of the bath, was a (very good, apart from this,) two star hotel in Morocco - but even that one had a regular round head (so you could actually wash properly/ normally under it), not a single tiny narrow head like at this hotel. The room I had was the cheapest, and apart from not having an opening window (I know this is kind of standard these days, so I'm not bothered), it was a well appointed comfortable room and even had a side view of the Med, which was great. People will always come to this hotel because of its awesome location, including a roof terrace ..commanding some of the best full vantage points in Tarragona (and many other reasons), but I hope the complacency of them knowing this, doesn't hold them back from considering customers' improvements / suggestions. I had pasta carbonara for dinner the 2nd night - a few tubes of pasta in a thin limp sauce, with some almost microscopic strands of ham (seemed like a microwave job) - no bread with it, no salad, very very unsatisfactory it was ..I was still hungry, so I ordered a small pizza, which was ok, but seemed like a basic supermarket one (it wasn't good), and it took a long time to arrive. The rooftop pool, they call a 'plunge pool', but this is underselling it - I did lots of lengths in it, it's maybe 4ft deep .. it's great. The lower pool is also nice and is much bigger and deeper. The day I left, the fire alarm went off at about 7am - A bit annoying. Some people started to leave the building and some probably didn't. This is overall a very good hotel, and I was really impressed. I liked the staff on reception, the breakfast staff and the rooftop bar/ restaurant staff - they were all very friendly and very efficient - This is especially nice when you're by yourself. Tarragona is great and swimming in the sea was wonderful too.

Reviews vary greatly for this property and that in part must be due to such a varied amount of accommodation available within the Hotel Gold River complex. We had previously stayed at the highest category hotel here Mansion De Lucy and was unsure how Gold River would compare, it turned out very favourably indeed. One concern we had was finding out that the fast pass options for rides were no longer granted for length of stay and instead in general it did appear there were few advantages of staying on resort however we found out that certain fast passes that include a single ride on each of the main attractions are valid for use over 2 consecutive days, it is well worth adding on the 1st row supplement which is just 5 Euro. This alongside a Seasme Adventure fast pass of 7 Euro meant it was 50 Euro each for 2 days of guaranteed rides. So for our 5 night stay we opted for this on our 2nd and 3rd day, and then our 5th and 6th final day. Ferrari Land is still included for 1 visit per stay and we also opted for the fast pass there too 23 Euro as we expected it to be busy as it was unusually open at night after PortAventura had closed. We opted for a full board package with Jet 2 and this made our spending money on resort go so far as we found the 3 course lunch that could be taken at numerous quick service restaurants was sufficient to share so we often would split our Lunches in the park up which also include a drink (bar a 1 Euro reusable cup charge) Food quality was outstanding, works out at about £16.50 for 3 course including a drink if you aren't full board so great value, think pasta bolognese to start, chicken dippers and fries for main, fresh fruit salad for dessert and a drink. I had been in touch with the hotel prior to our visit and asked to add on our fast passes along with some flowers and Cava alongside a request for a room in the main city hall, they were extremely efficient and helpful in arranging this and upon arrival everything had been taken care of, including the requested room in City Hall with the most amazing views of both parks and the sea. I would like to know how much Disney would try and extort from you for this view. The room was very clean and serviced daily with a nice deep bath, quite noisy at 10pm which seemed to be the most popular time for guests to eat but by Midnight very quiet. I did have concerns about the bookings for the restaurant as others have commented you get a 40 min time limit for breakfast and an hour for dinner for a couple this was fine but a large family may struggle. We found out on the last 2 nights that still water was complimentary at dinner. At both breakfast and dinner there was the most wonderful bread station which had a very large choice of different bread and in the morning pastries. Food was well topped up and loads kf choice for starters and desserts, a little less so for main courses and if nothing we fancied we chose from the kids options which are more fast food. Service was lovely thr

This was a tough one between 3 and 4 in review, the hotel itself is great rooms cleaned daily, no fighting for sunbeds ( more due to time of year) but you could easily get sunbed at 11 am. The pool bar was great, food from snack bar was good, example €3.75 for chips, 12” pizza €9.95 and beer €3.70, staff were excellent and always friendly, we lost water one night in hotel room, was off for around 18 hours so no showers for a while, gave us a 1.5l bottle of water lol, but don’t think this was hotels fault. The two sort of let downs for us were 1st the restaurant food, breakfast typical Spanish with their usual version of English breakie, no issues there, but the evening meal was very hit and miss, there was loads on offer but alit did not seem to go, one night they did potatoes, scrambled eggs and eels all mixed together, they also did potatoes waffles with ham and cheese on topped off with a fried egg, I thought that was quiet nice, wife not so lol. Anyway there was a lack of children’s selection, not an issue for us but only chicken nuggets on a few times but always chips, might be an issue if you’ve fuzzy eaters with you. They still had a great salad bar with the typical selection on meats and cheeses, and I thought the deserts were excellent too, although one did look like a bush tucker trail, the chef really thinks outside the box lol. 2nd issue was the location of hotel, it’s a 10 to 15 min stroll to nearest shops, and bars, so for us not ideal, but may suit others, about the same distance to Port Ventura theme park, it will cost you about €10 for a taxi to seafront if they easier. Oh aircon in room not the best either, it never really cold, sometimes you want this when it’s been so hot outside, entertainment on a night was ok too, we would some times watch it from our balcony, kids disco every night too. So for us would we use again, I would say no, but mainly due to location of hotel, not because of hotel itself because it is a beautiful hotel

I chose this hotel which is (advertised as) a 4-star superior. Lovely room with a pool view. But ... NO kettle or tea/coffee-making facilities. Big oversight. Balcony has DECK CHAIRS - not good if you have back or mobility issues. A point off for these issues. Wi-fi? Don't bet on it. Erratic to say the very least. And if you're searching for an English channel or two on the telly (maybe you're missing your Corrie!) forget it. Sky News and that's it. Germans and French well-catered for, however. Lose another point. I cannot comment on the food as I was room only.

We were a bit aprehensive about holidaying here after reading all the mixed reviews. It was a last minute deal at this 3* Hotel. It's 20 minutes from the airport and that was on a coach transfer. The welcome from the Reception Staff was very warm and efficient. The lifts were both working whilst we were there but they were both a bit slow in arriving. We were only on the 3rd floor so we did walk up and down most days. The room had 2 double beds and was very clean. The room was cleaned everyday and we were given fresh towels. The meals were of a good standard and there was always a large variety to choose from. We did hear people complain about the food, but really couldn't understand why as we never found anything wrong. At breakfast the chef was on hand to make omlettes and cook fresh eggs. There were cereals, fruit juice, full cooked breakfast, cheeses, meats, breads, croissants etc. At lunchtime they would cook burgers, steak or sausage and of an evening they would cook steak and chicken. There was always a pasta dish, chips, salad, fresh cooked baguettes and a selection of cooked meats. (See photos) The pool was absolutely freezing but perhaps that was just due to it being October. The entertainment staff were coming to the end of their season but still did a great job. Simon was really friendly and took time out during the day to sit and chat with people. The Jet 2 Rep Phillip was brilliant and very knowledgeable on the area. He gave us plenty of tips even though we didn't book any trips with him. The bar staff were brilliant. Juan was so friendly and went out of his way to help people who wanted to improve their Spanish. He made such an effort with his Fancy Dress costumes all week as they were celebrating Halloween. If you like wine the ones they serve are of a good quality . The rooftop bar was closed due to it being so.late in the eason, but both the jacuzzis were on and the sunbeds, chairs and tables were out for use. The views from the rooftop terrace are beautiful. The terrace itself looked like it had recently been updated . I liked the fact that the pool area didn't open until 10am as that stopped people putting towels on the sunbeds then going out for the day. There were plenty of sunbeds out and several more stacked at the side if needed. We never struggled to get a sunbed in the sun. The temperatures were up to 27° some days and that was mid October. There are a couple of beaches within walking distance and the main town is a 10 minute walk which you can do along the shore line walkway. We wouldn't hesitate to return and would describe the hotel as being top end of its 3 stars.

GGuest UserMy husband and I had a week away from Barcelona staying at this adults only hotel. The reception staff were all friendly but especially Bea who was extremely helpful with things to go and see whilst we were here as the weather was not the best. Rooms were really nice, clean and tidy, with comfortable beds, but the pillows not so comfy. Could have done with a table on the balcony too. Breakfast was a good choice with the option to order freshly cooked too and the staff were friendly and kept the place ticking over nicely. The spa was a bit of a disappointment as it only has steam room and sauna and a jacuzzi for 8 people, so we only used once and the games room was not available durin the week due to conference. Fortunately we had our own cards and dominoes. Overall a good visit to Salou, where we visited Cambrils, Tarragona, Reus and Sama Park out of tourist season. I am sure it would be buzzing come Easter onwards. Thanks to the Magnolia Team for the great overall service.

GGuest UserThe best 4* hotel I've ever stayed in. The whole of the hotel looks like it's had a full re modernisation. Everything very clean, fresh and modern. Booked the cheapest standard room and it was great. View of the beach from balcony, comfy beds, fabulous rain shower with a smaller hand held shower. Air con is excellent. Great idea that your wristband also contains your room access key. Very helpful, hard working staff throughout. Spotlessly clean everywhere thanks to the cleaning team. Food was excellent. Not masses of choice, but very good quality and we always found something we liked. There are usually 2 chefs who will cook food of your choice on the griddle which was very good. The weekly gala dinner was outstanding. Tables were cleared super quick ready for the next guests. Pool area was small but we always found a sunbed and there are toilets and showers. There's also a shaded area when you need a break from the sun! The pool is more suited to adults and not children. There is a lovely bar with different areas of seating practically on the beach! The hotel has a really good evening entertainment programme with live acts, it gets very busy! The hotel is situated in the quite area of La Pineda but there are lots of lovely Spanish bars and restaurants very close by. There are lots of shops and there are bus stops nearby. We caught the bus to Cambrils, Salou and Tarragona. Taxi to Reus airport is approx €30-€33 each way. There is a very flat promenade that goes for miles along the beach at the rear of the hotel. Great for wheelchairs, prams, cycling or just a 10 minute stroll into the busier part of La Pineda. Thank you Hotel Terramarina for a wonderful stay. Can't wait to come back. Amanda

MMarc GaldonFerrerLocated in a historical building in the old town of Altafulla, Hotel Gran Claustre is a peaceful stay in this busy tourist location. Plenty of historical sights to enjoy around it. Rooms are clean, even though could do with a new hand of painting and more attention to details: like the shower which made a mess every time because it is not fully closed, so some water makes it out and floods the bathroom floor. There is parking space for cars, right in front of the hotel but they charge 6€ per day even for hotel guests, however drive a few minutes further up and there is plenty of free spots. Swimming pool is nice, boutique style, not big but well taken care of and picturesque.

MMarc GaldonFerrerGreat option to stay if you want to visit Port Aventura amusement park. Staying for the night at the hotel will grant you access to the park on both days, the check-in and the check-out. Rooms are clean and comfortable, for a good rest after spending the day at the park. The swimming pool is also amazing, big and beautiful, it is an adventure in itself. Only issue is the service: you can feel that the staff do their best, however during peak season, they are so busy that for sure you will have to line up in order to get anything done. They are moving ahead and making moves for automatic self-service processes: like self- check out, but still is not enough. You gotta then have some patience and wait until your turn comes.

SSulleyACan’t recommend this hotel enough, location , staff and service was amazing. It is abit on a hill, but this didn’t bother me at all. I had the breakfast included and was so pleased, so much to choose from! Staff were super friendly and room was cleaned daily. I did not have the sea view but had a lovely view of palm trees from my room which always had a nice breeze coming. Loved every bit and will most likely stay here again when I visit Salou. GGuest UserWe returned today from a 1 week stay at Ohotel Les Oliveres and I can only say I wish it could've been for longer. The hotel itself is impressive and kept immaculately clean throughout however our stay was made even better by the wonderful staff who go out of their way on a daily basis, to make your stay even better. From the reception staff, bartenders, lifeguards, restaurant and entertainment staff, I can honestly say I have never been made to feel more welcomed and comfortable. We stayed on an 'all inclusive' package and the food each day was varied and delicious. A stones throw away is a beautiful little pebble beach with stunning views along the winding pathway. Yes, it may be away from the hustle and bustle of some holiday resorts but what you have on offer here is more than enough. We have absolutely loved our stay here and would return in a heartbeat. Thankyou for a fabulous holiday everyone.

GGuest UserThe very nice and comfortable rooms, the hotel was fine, some roommates more nice than others but the food from the restaurant frozen and quite bad for what they charge you, except you ask Coca Cola or Fanta and bring you the drink already served The hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable. The buffet was only breakfast and a little small, besides having to make enough row to get in because the dining room is not big enough to cover so many people. The pool is fine, but there is no kind of organization with the hams, each puts it where it wants when it wants and it is a little disaster.

I had read the recent reviews and was worried that we had booked this hotel as the reviews seemed excellent before it was renovated. We went with an open mind determined to have a great holiday anyway. We visited Dorada Palace and stayed 9 nights, we returned home yesterday. We booked full board via Thomas Cook and decided to upgrade to All Inclusive once we had arrived and had been there a few days. The pool bar drinks seemed expensive so we thought going All Inclusive would be better. All inclusive: It took us a while to realise that yes all inclusive guests are not treated the same as other board of guests. For example in the evening drinks are served in glasses rather than in paper cups as they are in the daytime. As an all inclusive customer you get a coke glass with your beer in. Paying customers get a pint of beer in a pint glass. In the restaurant other board guests can buy a bottle of wine. All inclusive guests get a house wine out of a tap which wasn't very nice. We visited an Occidental hotel last August in Fuerteventura and we were all inclusive there and we literally could help ourselves to soft drinks and beer all day as self service. Bottles of wine with each meal were available. This hotel in comparison was a real let down. The all inclusive spirits were good they are pretty generous at the pool bar. The all inclusive hot dogs were also lovely. The food at the Dorada Palace buffet was pretty much the same every day more repetitive than any other hotel we have been to and the dessert selection was extremely disappointing. Tiny desserts and not much selection at all. The dining room booking system: This ruined our holiday as you could not really go out spontaneously and if you did you missed your dinner slot. You couldn't lie in if you decided you might like a later breakfast. The restaurant was so busy so I do understand why they have done this but it's so inflexible. If you are late it shows an error. Also you need a smart phone to log into the system to generate your dining code. A screenshot of the code works well. I also noticed the snack bar food was totally different for all inclusive guests to the paying guests. I watched a lady buy a pizza it was large and round and looked lovely. All inclusive gets a slice of rectangular pizza which is incredibly dry. I also don't understand why we had to pay adult all inclusive price for our 13 year old. 13 year olds dont drink alcohol surely the price should be adjusted to reflect this. All inclusive is 11am to 11pm. I have not had this in other hotels we have stayed in. This means that you cant get a drink in the morning from the hotel after you have had breakfast. We booked 8am breakfast which then you cant get another coffee or anything as you can't re enter the dining room as you get a ticket to enter for each meal. The pool bars is closed at this time so of you did want another coffee etc you would have to leave the hotel and go somewhere else to buy one or wa

This was our third time staying at the hotel Gran Europe, and our third review. Previously stayed in 2014 and 2016. The hotel is under different ownership/management since then. We always loved this relatively small hotel which has a great location on the promenade and seafront. We had two rooms this time, as I joined my wife and children halfway through their three week stay and this gave us more room and comfort than squeezing into one room. Saying that they rooms are a good size with Two large double beds. Rooms are clean and refurbished with good size modern bathroom and a hallway that has plenty of storage. A Good feature is that the halway has both the door to the access corridor and a door to the bedroom, which means the bedroom is shielded from corridor noise at night when both doors are closed. Corridors also are carpeted so we heard no noise at all of the usual footsteps or suitcases being wheeled along at all times of day/night. This was a bonus for us as we are light sleepers. Overall the hotel though is a quiet and peaceful space. The restaurant and bar are excellent with good food and drink available. Plenty of choice and no issues with flies or hygiene. The staff in restaurant and bar are wonderful as are all hotel staff, including reception and cleaning staff. Looking back on our previous review from 2016 we can say our few negative experiences have all been eliminated and we have no faults this time. There were a few smokers around but far less than we saw in 2016. The hotel is dog friendly and it was no problem for us to see dogs being walked around, in corridors and reception but dogs were not present by the pool or allowed in the bar and restaurant. Our children are teens now so didn’t partake in mini disco or kids club, but can say we noticed these to be much improved since 2016. The beach is always fabulous, can’t fault it. Highly recommend this hotel, but not for party animals as it is quiet and peaceful and a lot of elder people stay here. One thing to note. Airport Taxi transfers are expensive here. £100euro or more each way. I discovered that the Uber app will give you public transport options for bus/train if you arrive at a suitable time. My flight landed at 6pm and I then used a bus and train from Barcelona airport and walked down to the hotel from the station, took about 2 hours and cost me less than 8 euro. Was at hotel for dinner. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Excellent.
