Very clean bedroom, easy check in with staff who was in charge of the pub.
Hearty breakfast at just £10 was great!

The pub is a real country pub with a roaring fire which was appreciated as it was freezing outside The staff were very amiable and couldn't do enough for us. The room was nice and comfortable and the food was very nice. We had the Border breakfast which was delicious. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others if they like good old fashioned country fayre

We had a lovely stay at The Holly Bush Inn on New Years Eve. A warm welcome from the friendly staff set the tone for the whole of our stay. Our room was a small double located at the front of the property. I t was really cute and had everything needed for a comfortable stay, including quality toiletries. We enjoyed the best cooked breakfast with quality products well cooked. I would recommend a stay here to anyone wanting to explore Northumberland.

What an amazing find. We received a really warm welcome at this lovely country pub. They immediately offered an upgrade and we had a beautiful room which was lovely and warm despite it being December. They were unable to offer evening meal but offered suggestions on where to go including the offer of eating a takeaway in the restaurant. Fabulous breakfast all freshly made with local ingredients. Can’t recommend it enough

Stayed here on a Friday night as we were visiting the observatory. Great spot, warm and welcoming. Breakfast the next morning was great too, friendly staff and good food. Unfortunately food was unavailable in the evening but they gave some recommendations nearby which were fantastic. Would definitely stay again!

The room was clean and pleasant enough. However the bathroom was a bit tired. Breakfast was excellent. We couldn’t get into the room until 16:00 which is getting a bit late for a cold November afternoon. We were putting our bikes in the shed when it was getting dark. Evening meals are well made and good quality food. You do need to book a table in the restaurant area at weekends and summer time. The staff were friendly and the bar is a proper one room country pub atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Inn is ideally placed for lovely walks in the Tarset Valley where you can visit the Black Middens Bastle. Autumn colours were gorgeous this year. Back at base we enjoyed comfortable clean bedrooms and super hot showers. The evening meals were a very tasty range of home cooked dishes and enjoyed by all. The menu varies from day to day providing a nice variety even for our vegan member. Staff were lovely and finally snug bar with a fire in the range needs to be mentioned.

Welcoming country inn, lovely open fire to warm you up, room was well appointed, and comfortable, shower hot, parking in road or lay-by opposite, the supper food was lovely, freshly cooked and tasty, with a varied menu of options, we were there on the night of great northern lights show, the locals came and told us and showed us where best to see the show, our food was kept hot whilst we were outside. Friendly and happy to chat. Good options at breakfast.

We booked 2 nights almost last minute and Kristen couldn't have been more helpful. The small bar with an amazing range and glowing fire is the sort of place where it's easy to chat with other guests like old friends! We soon felt very at home! There was a slight hiccup on the first morning so no cooked breakfast but bacon sandwiches were offered. Would definitely stay here again and recommend Holly Bush if you're in the area.

Room was neat and tidy, shower was roomy and heated up quickly, Full English breakfast was the best I've been served in a long time. 5 real ales were excellently kept, with the decent weather the views in the beer garden overlooking the hills was breathtaking. Even found us some Chapeldown for us on arrival. Great service.

Lovely stay at the Holly Bush Inn with very friendly staff and a fabulous log fire dominating the bar. Very cosy atmosphere and great ales. Comfortable room and plenty of toiletries. At dinner my husband loved the speciality Reiver pie and my Rajasthani chicken with rice and beeroot was a delicious, imaginative dish. The breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend this place and wish there were more like it!

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, good food, good beer and a relaxing atmosphere. Had a great short break using the Holly Bush as a base for visiting Kielder and the surrounding area relaxing in the bar after a days walking. The food was excellent and thoroughly recommend the Chicken with Leeks in Tarragon sauce

We drove 3 miles to get here to have lunch having seen their roadside sign stating they had a restaurant. It was 1230 on a Saturday in July. When we asked to see the menu the woman behind the bar said “oh - at this time we could possibly make you a sandwich”. No word of explanation (e.g chef was ill, restaurant menu only available certain hours). Nothing. We didn't stay. You may want to consider changing your signs to say you don’t do food at peak lunchtimes. No wonder so may pubs are going out of business.
