I booked a deluxe double room for just one night. We were very happy with our room, which was spacious, clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. The welcome from Reception was warm and friendly. There is parking at the hotel but this is run by NCP and costs just under £10 for a 24 hour stay. Payment is via an APP so I suggest installing that on your phone before you arrive. There is not the option to pay by cash or card at the machine. The hotel itself is very charming, with individually decorated bedrooms and a host of period features and furniture in the public rooms. We were meeting my son for dinner in a nearby restaurant for dinner so cannot comment on the Dining Room and we opted out of breakfast as we had an early lunch arranged. We did enjoy some cocktails in Brazz, where the service and quality of the drinks were appreciated.

I paid £165 for a room. It was totally overrated. The bathroom was outdated and tired. I requested a different room. Eventually the manager gave me a different room. I was told breakfast was included it wasn't. It was poor quality and the manager was really unhelpful. I was so disappointed so much so I ate elsewhere. I would not go back nor would I recommend staying there.

Interesting 4 star hotel in a great location in the CBD of Taunton had great spacious rooms, modern well lit bathroom and fantastic dining. Windows that open too. Bed and bedding was all good. Part of a 25 person tour group and this was no obstacle to them. Happy to come back one day.

We stayed here last weekend for a wedding - it's a beautiful, luxuriant hotel with a wonderful atmosphere and very friendly staff. We had our toddler with us and all the staff were (genuinely) friendly and accommodating towards him. The food in the restaurant was great, the wedding itself was brilliantly organised, everything was wonderful. We would happily go back!

Came here for afternoon tea with friends. Great atmosphere and service. The food was amazing and great quality for money. They cater well for all dietary requirements and easily swapped out foods to fit our needs. The hotel really is lovely and ideal location!

From all the photographs we’ve seen on the official website and on TripAdvisor are totally different from what we’ve seen when we got there. Perhaps these photos of rooms decor etc was just like this many years ago. When we got there the hotel looked old , tired finished. Our room was old and dated . Tap water to drink not proper drinking as advertised, broken worn and torn window dressing. Dated shower with poor water pressure. Old window catchers and not closing properly we had drafts coming through. Lucky enough the heating was working!👍🏻 We had a bright light outside of our bedroom window that lit our bedroom all night! Crummy uncomfortable pillows ! I have very long hair so among amenities a hair dryer was promised. I got looked at as though I was a brat when requesting for a hairdryer when I needed to wash my hair. After 3 attempts of old worn out hair dryers I gave up. I also requested a makeup mirror which was frowned upon and not available, so I went to boots to buy my own! Being well traveled and stayed in some of the worlds best hotels and know the hospitality industry, staff were disconnected and no hospitality skills. Towels were always fresh and clean.👍🏻 This is definitely not a 5star hotel I would not even give it 3! All and the above are all honest observations unfortunately, sorry. We stayed in room 58 second floor.

Be aware that there is a nightclub called mamba next to the hotel. Wednesday and Thursday they have music until 2 AM, Friday and Saturday they continue till 3:30 AM. We stayed Saturday night in mid-May. It is a loud techno music with a heavy beat. We tried to sleep with earplugs, but to no avail. it literally shook the room. I will also say that their breakfast in the morning was pretty subpar. It can best to be summed up by the croissants, limp and chewy. after two weeks of spectacular croissants throughout the south coast of England, these were a massive disappointment, as was the rest of the breakfast. At least the staff were competent and the coffee was good.

A superb building surrounded with beautiful architecture and history. My wife and I enjoyed a lovely glass of wine in the norman gardens which was just fabulous. The room had a fantastic view of the gardens and so much natural light, we both really enjoyed our time spent here. The food, service, staff and the hotel as a whole was amazing. We certainly can not wait to come back.

We had such a wonderful stay at the castle hotel. The only feedback was the receptionist on check out wasn’t as friendly as the lady that had checked us in. She appeared to be confused with the communication around breakfast timings. Over all it was a wonderful stay, in the perfect location and it’s such a beautiful hotel
