The room was tired with scuffed walls, the curtain track around the 'balcony' was falling off, the headboard was worn and most unattractive, the bathroom initially had an unpleasant odour which did go away. The balcony was so small we were unable to both sit on it and it only looked over a field, nothing special at all. The floor was wooden, no rugs or any attempt to make it comfortable. Honestly Ive been in more comfortable Travel Lodges. There was one vegetarian option on the dinner menu which we didn't want so ate at the Cornish Arms in Tavistock which was one of the best menus Ive seen in a while. Breakfast was average, nothing special. The staff were helpful enough. This hotel doesn't meet the Conde Nast / Johansens standard in my view and for £320 a night was a real ripoff. This was supposed to be a special treat but the whole experience was third rate.
