Aging hotel with hints of a by gone era. Staff are friendly and helpful though English may be lacking (just a heads up to have your favorite translator app working). Breakfast is ok but options are limited in the area. The onsen facilities are great. Overall I think I got value for what I paid for.

In September 2023, I stopped by the hot springs for a day trip after staying near Lake Kussharo. The hot springs at Kangsanseong Fortress were very special, and I stayed there this April to go to Lake Kussharo and Lake Mashu. As expected, the hot spring water was good and effective for back pain. The facility was old but cleanly maintained, and it seemed like elderly mothers were coming in groups. Breakfast doesn't have a lot of variety, but it's worth a meal. You can drink free sake in the lobby, so you can have a drink ^^

The hotel is quite traditional, but also very clean and tidy. There are not many hotels still operating in Kawayu Onsen, and this one is pretty good overall.

The parking lot is very spacious, and after parking the car, you can see the beautiful moon. The hot spring is very comfortable, with a strong smell of sulfur. The next day after soaking, my skin was slippery.

The hotel's hot spring is quite unique. However, the front desk and the shop bar are all on the first floor. There is only one waiter, and the waiter's attitude is really indifferent. The room is very old and the bed is not comfortable.

The condition of the tatami mats in the guest room is not good. The building seemed old. However, the hot springs were very nice and featured three baths with different temperatures.

The baths are great! Coffee made from coffee beans! And the juice is great too!

Except for the communication difficulties, everything else is good.

When I checked in, I felt like it had a vintage feel. There was no air conditioning in the room, but there was a fan. Fortunately, I could open the window. I was worried that it would be hot and difficult to sleep at night, but unexpectedly the temperature would drop at night. It was so cool that I had to sleep under a quilt!

The hotel is close to the bus station, there are restaurants around, and there are free drinks (including several brands of wine) for self-drinking. Although the hotel is a bit old, the room is clean and the size of the twin room is acceptable. Chuanyu Hot Spring is a good accommodation choice.

It is a facility without air conditioning in the summer, but the staff are very attentive. I also like the hot spring bath.
