The Bell Hotel Thetford

Recommend the ‘superior rooms’. There are only four, but they have a balcony that overlooks the river and the 1829 bridge. A bit bigger with a settee and a four poster bed too. Not much more expensive than a standard room. Excellent breakfasts, and some good deals on lunch and dinner each day. Staff were lovely. Victoria the manager was always on hand to offer advice. We feel she went beyond her duty to make people feel welcome. 5*

Parking had 2 small car parks which you had to inform reception when checking in your vehicle registration as it was a pay-and-display. Check-in was quick and off to the room on the first floor no Lifts in the hotel that I was aware of before booking. The twin room was clean and the bed was firm clean sheets large room with the normal amenities iron kettle etc and daily room service. My son & partner said his room was also well-equipped and clean. The wedding reception rooms were nicely turned out for our event. The bar was busy but I was able to get a seat and enjoy a beer. The food was pre-booked on the wedding package the staff were very friendly and helpful would recommend a visit. Had a billing problem (overcharged) but that was sorted out on checking out. Happy to stay over again nice Hotel and staff.

Bed was comfortable but building felt a bit run down.

Hotel was looking tired and needed updating. Toilet were leaking with urine on the floor and our bedroom tap was leaking. In the bar I asked if I could pay extra for the beer I liked instead of the cheaper beer offered with the meal. He did not know and was of little help. So I told him we would not order and would eat in Weatherspoons instead, which is what we did.

Quaint old pub in great location on the river, next to the park and the shopping area. Lovely views from room (11). Room had a nice balcony with table and chairs. Good size room with sofa and two chairs, a coffee table and desk/dressing table as well as four poster bed. Lots of wardrobe space and plenty of drawers. Evening meal and breakfast both first class. Free parking right outside hotel (they log your car in on arrival). There is a cinema a couple of minutes walk away. A great place to stop in our journey!

I this is the 25th year of visiting the Bell Hotel in Thetford. In all those years I have never had grounds to complain, not once. This is mainly due to the staff who are invariably friendly, helpful and very accommodating, nothing is to much trouble. From the manager, Victoria, the Duty Manager, Rachel ( who is particularly attentive, sorting problems with alacrity and ease) Linda, who always handles my booking with such aplomb, is another star of the Bell Hotel Staff! The Hotel is historic and highly interesting, in itself, with a myriad, of enchanting and individualistic rooms, I have had the pleasure of staying on many of them, always clean and perfectly presented. However, in his visit, there are two new Chefs, Lucas and Christian, who’s food I have sampled and the results are incomparable, in a word ‘Superb’. In conclusion the Hotel itself is rather good but having said that it is only as good as it’s ! The word I would use is ‘superlative’ let us hope that it will be as good in the next 25 years as it has been in the previous years. The Bell Hotel Thetford will not accept May be my second house me but the staff will always be a part of my extended family and “I am unanimous in that” !!!!!!!!

Found the pillows uncomfortable. Television wouldn't turn off. Overall it was ok

The room is really nice spacious and clean. The staff are so friendly and always willing to help. Steak night is great and the food is really good.
