Stayed at the Best Western Compass Inn and was very pleased with my stay. Lovely staff, clean and spacious room. Would definitely stay again.

Convenient and pleasant location for us traveling from Bath to Birmingham. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A really sweet and lovely touch was the children’s chocolate Easter egg in our room! The room did look a bit dated, particularly the bathroom. The bathroom could also have been a little cleaner. It felt as if the bathroom and room probably hadn’t been used for a while and since the last time it was cleaned it had gotten a bit dusty.

Room was reasonably clean and bed comfortable. Shower height adjustment broken, and clearly had been for some time - no good for anybody over 3 foot tall. The smell of raw sewage in the corridor and the bathroom was appalling - apparently it’s been like that for some time. It really needs to get sorted……

Excellently decorated room, very clean, even had a bath, very comfy bed and pillows. I could have had a meal in the restaurant even though I arrived after 8pm. Very quiet and, as a solo traveler important to be in a safe environment. Nice area to exercise dogs

stayed recently and I have stayed here before multiple times and always thought highly of the hotel, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and cannot fault them, this time however, the room there were a few minor problems, the on/off switch for the shower was missing, so was a bit concerned if it was safe, the TV control was not working properly, where sockets were there was a hole above in the wall. Food I have always enjoyed at the hotel but this time was not as good as before but I would take that as a one off.

There are some very negative reviews, which are so at odds with my experience that I wonder if we're describing the same place. The building itself isn't especially picturesque. But so what? It's so reasonably priced, the rooms are quiet and comforatble, the food is good and above all, the staff are without exception nice, friendly, welcoming and helpful (especially the lady on reception who was full of apologies because it was only her second day but who was in fact utterly charming).
