Stayed here for one night as part of a visit to the theatre. Our room was a refurbished cosy superking. It was just that…very pokey. There wasn’t really enough room for two plus bags. Bed was very comfy though and a nice touch to have air conditioning! If I were to return I would go for a refurbished signature. Our friends who came with us had this room type and it was a much nicer room, lots of space plus a sofa and a very nice bathroom. Breakfast was lovely; loads of good quality items on the continental and a nice range to choose from for your hot food. The hotel itself is beautiful. Very calming throughout as whilst the hotel appeared to be fully booked it was not packed and it was very quiet and relaxed. It is very disappointing however to have such strict timescale on the use of the spa facilities. I have not been to a ‘luxury spa hotel’ that only allows use between checkin and check out. I have stayed in quite a few and this is the only one that has this very limited restriction. We arrived at about midday hoping to use the gym and the outdoor pool as we had already seen online that we couldn’t use the spa. Unfortunately the gym is apparently classed as part of the spa so this wasn’t allowed. Never mind, we went straight out to the outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Pool area was very nice and quiet. Unfortunately the jacuzzi only had half the jets working which is always disappointing to find advertised facilities not working at full capacity. We did not have time to use the spa on our checkin day as we had dinner and the theatre booked. We then felt very rushed to make sure we did get to use it the next day before you were kicked out at 11. It meant we didn’t have a slow relaxing morning as we needed to ensure we had breakfast and tidied up the room before heading to the spa. Your robes for using the spa are in your room as well so you have to make sure you carry them down with you and your bags, check out and return your key and then go to the spa…unless you want to rush back to your room and reception before 11 to make sure you are checked out in time. When you are in the spa, the kick out time is strictly observed with the spa reception promptly walking around the spa at 10:55 to make sure everyone is getting out. When our friends asked if they could pay extra to stay in another hour they were told to go to the hotel reception. A bit of a dampener on a relaxing spa visit to have to trudge up to reception. In my option the robes should be in the room as well as available in the spa and you should at least be able to use the facilities from midday to midday…and in most cases of hotel spas I have been too…all day! You pay a premium price for a hotel like this and it feels a waste not to use the lovely spa. Overall we felt very rushed and didn’t really feel rested and relaxed. The spa itself was lovely. Really good clean facilities, the spa receptionist was really nice and the female changing had nice showers with Dyson hair dryer

Myself and my husband have just returned from a last minute weekend stay. Due to work commitments we decided against travelling abroad and opted for a last minute UK break I am so glad we did not read reviews before heading off. We booked the refurbished signature room with breakfast. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lady on reception whom was so welcoming and friendly. We found the whole weekend to be none other than relaxing. We literally could not fault it in any way ! Our room had the most beautiful view of Torquay seafront particularly at night with the big wheel all lit up. It was decorated to perfection and had a warm calming vibe. The lady in the Spa was so friendly and welcoming and always spoke to us whenever we seen her. ( Sorry I didnt get her name). We always opt for a spa break and this hotel did not dissapoint. It is close proximity to everything you need. We strolled into Torquay which is in close proximity. We did notice plenty of taxi firms back and fourth the hotel as well if you didnt fancy the walk. We loved the whole ambience of this hotel and loved Torquay we would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of staying here. Like I said if I had read the reviews I probably would have booked somewhere else. So glad I didnt 😊. Thankyou for the most welcoming stay.

I have visited this hotel twice with my husband and have always had lovely rooms. We’re local and have enjoyed having a night away here once in a while as a treat. This time, I visited with my mum and we were so disappointed with our room. I wanted to show my mum what a lovely hotel this is, but we must have had the worst room in the whole hotel (room 20) and I felt really let down. There’s an extractor fan below the window and all night we could smell kitchen/fat smells. I didn’t sleep a wink all night as this smell made me feel so nauseous on top of being ill which was really frustrating. The view is horrible, directly onto a fire escape, and a staff member came out the door onto it and looked straight into our window as we were getting changed! I tried to cancel this booking 3 days before we came as I’m not well but was told that we couldn’t due to Ts&Cs. I do understand this, and we thought we’d come anyway as we’re local so could just drive home if I felt unwell (nothing contagious). However, after I enquired whether the breakfast costs were also unrefundable (I can’t eat much at the moment), our whole booking was cancelled by the general manager! I didn’t ask for this to happen! So I called up and luckily could reinstate our booking. This didn’t feel very kind or thoughtful, particularly as I had told him that I’m unwell. I’m in two minds as to whether we’ll return as I’ve been left with a bad feeling about our stay. If we do, I will definitely ask not to be in room 20. It really was horrible. See the attached photo of our view of the smelly extractor fan!

An excellent overnight stay, for a romantic anniversary treat. The hotel was lovely, the staff friendly and helpful. We had a Classic room which was a good size, clean, with good facilities and a comfy bed. We had an evening meal and breakfast, and in both cases the food was excellent, in quality and quantity. We didn’t have any spa treatments but the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam, ice and salt rooms were all great. As it’s an adults only hotel it was lovely to relax away from children for a while! We’ll look forward to coming again.

We have been visiting Lincombe Hall since 2014 when it was first taken over by Brett and Jo, who were busy getting their new lounge furniture delivered when we checked in. We loved the feel of the place, the staff and the clear excitement they had about their plans to turn it into a modern Spa hotel. We revisited a number of times a year and watched the progress they were making, bringing the rooms up to a much higher standard and finally building a top quality Spa facility. Everything was perfect until our visit last year when it seemed they had introduced a new policy of having music playing in every conceivable corner of the hotel. Often it was far too loud to be termed "background" or "ambience" and the playlist consisted of cover versions of pop songs that were often a little painful to hear. I don't often write reviews but felt that, having raised it as an issue by email last year without any response, I would at least let others know what to expect. Despite last years trip we went back with our two grown up sons for a short break last week, perhaps hoping that the policy had changed but not really expecting it to. We were not surprised to find the same playlist blaring out on the terrace when we arrived for lunch. The staff are always polite and helpful and did turn the volume down for us, but I really do not understand why we needed it at all. I note that others who have mentioned this on trip advisor have been told by the management that they have a "carefully curated" playlist that reflects the style of the hotel. This is supposed to be a luxury Spa Hotel so I fail to see how a string of covers of songs like "Work" by Rhianna, hardly a relaxing melody, can be included. It is such a shame that the beautifully furnished lounge and newly renovated terrace are no longer spaces where you can relax with a newspaper or book in peace, something we would expect from a high quality hotel. If they were to at least revise the playlist to original artists versions or music without lyrics, like many other hotels do, and ensure that the volume level was kept low, then it would be far more bearable. As it was, we rarely saw guests spending any time simply relaxing in the lounge and we were certainly not tempted to linger for a second drink after our return from an evening out. I am still giving it 4 stars for the facilities, the rooms, the staff and the service, but be warned about the music!

We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Spa facilities were great but the room wasn’t too great. We found a room was very small and it gave us a feel like we are in travel lodge. Having said that but spa was amazing. Overall we enjoyed the break.
