The Anchorage Hotel

Tired, filthy decor. Thick dust in most places. Hot water ran out. Take your chance on breakfast, if there are staff there you may get something. We missed out on two days out of three finally getting a breakfast when some staff arrived at 10am. Will never book this place again.

The hotel was not staffed in the morning. The amenities were not at their best, the shower was problematic to get hot water and it didn't drain well. I felt overcharged for what it was. A last minute booking with regrets.

Positives - room was spotless & beds were extremely comfortable. Lovely girl who served us breakfast. Cons - hotel wasn't clean, needs good hoover, seats were filthy. Breakfast was awful - tea was cold, very little fruit juice, no cereal, limited options

We knew it was a budget hotel, but the experience overall we found hilarious my thoughts go to the guests staying for The British Open as I don’t see this changing before then. A quick thank you to the persons who were smoking in possibly 8 or 20, corridor was mingin! Check in was quick and pleasant with all info passed on, so we went to the bedroom, very tired and dated to be fair, decent size tv though, so noted a few things, no hair dryer, single ply toilet roll, only one small toiletries and 80’s hand soap wrap between 2, mould all round the sink and bath, bathroom door didn’t close, room door would only stay shut by turning the key in the lock, dropped the roof:key behind the box by the bathroom and found 3 socks, which had been there for a while for sure, bed was ok but not great, flex on the kettle should be longer for H&S, and no plug sockets anywhere near a mirror, the sofa doesn’t really fit the space it looks like it’s been put there out the way, this could be a lovely room with some thought. Spent a couple of hours in the bar which was quite pleasant with decent wi-fi but unfortunately that didn’t get as far as the bedroom. Had breakfast this morning, which was actually ok, but there was nothing on the table except the menu, 3 people had OJ, and then it wasn’t refilled, possibly ran out but Spar opens at 8am, as a we were also told there was no fresh milk! Two sachets of ketchup, which again were not replenished, poached egg was very good, nice bit of smoked bacon, black pudding not much taste, deep fried sausage and tattie scone, and beans which were quite runny, toast was fine, all served on a tiny oval plate, we had to clean our cutlery as some of them had food on and water marks. But it hey was warm, dry and quiet, and this is just an honest review, best bits were probably the tv size ( didn’t explore channel options) the bar choice and atmosphere, staff, breakfast food content, young lady on breakfast was pleasant.

It would take too long to fully explain how bad this hotel is. Dirty, run down and neglected. Truly an awful experience.

Cosy atmosphere, food was excellent. Multiple screens for multiple sports games. Definitely stay again.

I travel a lot for work and this was up there for one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. The decor wasn’t tired more like exhausted. The bed was clean enough but sunk in the middle. And the shower pulsed hot and cold water. It was a shame as the receptionist was welcoming.

Looking for the Ritz, then don't go here!!!! but for basic cheap accommodation then this is ideal. We stayed overnight whilst visiting the nearby Harbour bar to watch a band play, so really only slept in the room. Breakfast filled a hole the next morning. This was a value for money hotel

Our one night stay was pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable, and the cooked breakfast tasty. A very good night for the price.
