I have now stayed at the Tsalktubo Plaza for 9 nights! Always with my German travel groups. It was never good, but this year it was the worst hotel service I have experienced in over 3000 overnight stays worldwide! The staff are unfriendly, cheeky, and obviously not trained and never capable of running a hotel! The fish stinks from the head, but more on that later! When we arrived at the hotel with our small group, the bellboy was unable to help the ladies with their luggage, how could he? He had his hands in his pockets for hours and hung around in the lobby! Our signatures were required for the check-in process. The staff at reception snapped at our guide because she didn't do it straight away! Because we wanted to have dinner with our guide, as we wanted to do something together after dinner, I asked reception if our guide could come to the buffet with us as an exception. The lady wanted to call the hotel manager to do that. As he was unavailable, she called our Georgian partner agency and said that the guide insisted on eating in the hotel - what nonsense! At dinner, there were 5 employees standing in the small dining room, doing nothing! Ordering drinks somehow worked, but getting a bill to finish the meal was difficult! When we checked out, no one asked if we had enjoyed our stay! We then drove on to Svaneti for 3 nights, only to return to the Tsalktubo Plaza for another night! When we checked in, I explained that I would really like to speak to the hotel manager when we checked out, because I was dissatisfied! I was told that the hotel manager of the Tsalktubo Plaza Hotel would not be coming until the following day at 10:00 a.m.! However, we wanted to continue our program at 9:00 a.m.! I explained that I had already been to the hotel 9 times with groups, with a total of 50 people, and that I really needed to talk! The young lady told me she would ask the manager! In the evening in the lobby and in the dining room the same picture of incompetence as before! I'll spare you the details! Today I went to the reception at 8:30 a.m. and asked if the manager was there! The same young lady explained to me that it was Saturday and the manager would not be there until later! So sleeping in is more important to him than his guests! Anyone who thinks badly of this is a scoundrel! I recommend to anyone looking for a hotel in Tsalktubo NOT to stay at the Tsalktubo Plaza Hotel, but to choose one of the other great hotels!
