Super beautiful hotel! Definitely felt clean and sanitizer. My only hang up was 2 of the desk employees seemed to be annoyed. Other then that, I loved it. Right off the 10, super easy to get to.

Let me preface this with the fact that we almost always stay at a Holiday Inn Express when we take a couple day trip. It’s reliable, affordable, and has free breakfast. I arrived at this HIE expecting the same thing. When I checked in, I was informed that there was a possibility of no hot water for showers. I asked when they knew about this issue and they said two days ago. A repair was not going to happen until three days later. In other words, they knew about this and waited to tell me as I checked in which is very shady. I asked for a discount and they said they couldn’t authorize that. At this point, I had just flown 4 1/2 hours and then drove 2 hours and hiked the other part of the day. I had no energy to find another hotel room during spring break so we ended up staying. And as promised, in the morning, there was no hot water for our showers. It’s one thing to have issues like this and let me know in advance. I could have changed my reservation to a different HIE. But waiting till I got there to tell me made me feel trapped. As a side note, one of my favorite things about the HIE express stay is the pancake machine and even that was broken. Breakfast was odd too with no eggs and a variety of other odd offerings. On the good side, they had the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had there and the place was very clean.

We stayed at the Doubletree when we dropped off our daughter at U of A. The property is a little dated but fine. When we checked in, the gave us a room in the court yard area of the hotel. The court yard wing is a two story building that is separate from the main hotel which is about a 10 story building. We were on the second floor and immediately upon entering the room it smelled musty and my wife said it smelled like cigarettes. We also noticed that the AC wasn't working very well and called down to the front desk to get another room. They said that no other rooms were available and that it was monsoon season and the AC struggled to keep up. After spending a hot nigh in the room, we left that day to move our daughter into U of A. When we returned, the room was still warm and I called down to the front desk and again asked if we could get another room. The answer was no and then I asked to speak to the manager. Alex the manager called me back and apologized for poor AC and agreed to discount our room because of the issue. He also sent a maintenance person up to look at the AC and bring us a fan. The maintenance person said that after an adjustment the AC was blowing seven degrees cooler. I am not sure that was a the case but maybe it got a little better, not sure. Anyway, we ended up leaving a day early and ate the last night of our stay. Speaking with Alex the manger, it sounds like the problem is confined to the court yard area and that the main building is fine. I would just say buyer beware if you are considering staying here during the hot summer months.

We have offered this feedback to corporate and property general management via email with no reply. Sadly, due to the issues that we experienced we probably won't be visiting again. Its a beautiful property but the staff and issues we experienced don't allow us to highly recommend. (+)At check-in my wife had a helpful and excellent experience with Jaime Ortiz. He took the time to help her get our family and our luggage to the room since I had not arrived yet. He is to be commended for his genuine attention and how truly eager he was to help. (-)My wife enjoyed cocktails from the Azul lounge and unfortunately received very aloof service from the female bartender with dark hair and glasses. I also experienced this same level of dissatisfactory service from this particular bartender on a separate occasion on Saturday. (-) Saturday morning our room was covered by black ants. My wife called the front desk and asked that housekeeping or maintenance please come to the room to address the issue. The issue was not taken care of until a few hours later while we were at the pool. (+) Saturday, we spent our breakfast at Azul and Tommy was our server. He was warm, friendly, and very helpful. He made recommendations for entrée selections and interacted with our children in a genuine way. (+) We spent Saturday late morning and early afternoon at the pool and Andrea helped us with our alcohol and food order. She was very sweet and checked on us as she saw us around at the different pools. (+) We booked our 2 children into the Kids Club from 5:50pm-7:50pm on Saturday. Hannah was efficient in the reservation and check in process. Our children detailed that they had fun. (+) We wanted to enjoy some tapas from Contigo while our kids were in the Kids Club but didn’t know how to get there. We went to the front desk and Andrianna actually came around the desk and walked us to the door to ensure we had correct directions. She was the 2nd employee, from Jaime (mentioned earlier) that went above and beyond to help my family. (+) At Contigo our experience was perfection, which we hadn’t experienced at La Paloma up to the point unfortunately. My wife made sure to ask for the manager, Jorge, and share that Erin O and our server Danny V were such great staff members throughout our meal! (-) We returned to our room to see that the ants were still prevalent now having gotten into all of my children’s snacks and a dozen cookies we had delivered to the hotel for our children as a Saturday night surprise. Ants were in my son’s shoes and our carryon bags. It was a mess and my wife had to spend some time on her staycation cleaning our room and hotel furniture, and throwing out so much food! (-) We went to breakfast again at Azul on Sunday morning and Michelle was our server. She forgot to fulfill some of our small requests and our drinks were not refilled in our meal. The rooms are clean! There is a microwave and refrigerator!

Really nice spot with very friendly staff, I love the swimming pools; not too crowded in the middle of the summer, and a great summer rate! Room was very spacious too. One of the pools was a nice, smaller pool down a path, and one was larger, adjacent to the mail area. There is also a lap pool which I did not go. I did not try the restaurant although it looked great. There was a nice little porch in front of the room too. I recommend this place.

This former Red Lion property is currently undergoing an extensive and complete renovation. The rooms on the top two floors are now complete. The ground floor rooms are currently being worked on. My one-bed room was renovated and SMALL (about 225 sq. ft.). Excellent blackout blinds, good TV and a LARGE shower (no tub). Air conditioning was ”governed”, so it could not be set below 71 F, however, the room seemed much cooler than that, even on a 107 F day. The room is not yet perfectly finished with all the little touches, but I'm guessing that will. happen in the next 12 months. SURPRISINGLY, my motel room did NOT have a telephone. When I asked at the front desk, they explained that my room was a rare exception, in that a telephone line has not yet been installed. My particular room was acceptable for a budget-minded couple. The courtyard, however, was lovely with a good-sized pool, hot tub, and five hole putting green. The staff was very nice, but was a little lazy, in my opinion. It was obvious the exterior stairs had NOT been swept in several days. With four people at the front desk, certainly one of them could have grabbed a broom and swept for 45 minutes. My Expedia rate was US$ 70 plus a US$ 4.00 ”Property Fee”. I would consider this property again for a solo trip.

Check-in was smooth. I was fortunate to get an upgrade to Executive Level so breakfast was complimentary, and we stayed on the top floor. Thank you, Katherine!! Our room faced north and had a great view of the beautiful mountains. Very nicely decorated room, spacious, very firm bed (my wife liked it better than I did), comfortable settee. Beautiful walk-in shower (no tub). Breakfast buffet was fine but not great (lower-quality bacon, instant eggs vs real, good fresh cut fruit and pastries; they also had potatoes, cold cereal, oatmeal, and more). They did have excellent chicken wings at dinner time at the on-site restaurant. Overall we found the staff to be pleasant, providing good service. It's a fun hotel visually, has glass elevators, and it was a good value, even before the generous upgrade.
