USEFUL INFORMATION
The Albergo Ristorante San Giors is a historic Turin hotel, established in 1815. The rooms are housed in a period building in the Borgo Dora district, in the heart of Turin. Each room has been reinterpreted by various artists and furnished with designer pieces. The entire property, including the rooms, is covered by free Wi-Fi. You can find all the information about our history at https://www.sangiors.it/en/.
Rooms
Each room is unique, featuring works by local and international artists, allowing guests to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience. The rooms are enriched with books and art volumes for those who wish to relax, and the entire building is equipped with free Wi-Fi. Culture, art, and history blend in a place that fascinates with its simplicity, elegance, and attention to detail.
The rooms are located on the first and second floors, with no elevator, and are not equipped with a television. All rooms have air conditioning or a fan, and a private bathroom with a shower; some rooms also include a bidet. Each shower is equipped with an emergency system operated by a red cord: in case of need, simply pull it once to trigger an audible alarm at the reception, prompting staff assistance. To silence the alarm, pull the cord again. Inside the wardrobe of each room, you'll also find a hairdryer, additional blankets, and pillows.
In the bathrooms, we have chosen not to use disposable toiletries, such as small bottles or sachets, opting instead for high-quality, more environmentally friendly solutions: you'll find refillable soap dispensers on the sink and bidet, containing liquid soap, and a wall-mounted refillable dispenser with a combined body and hair hygiene product inside the shower. For any questions or needs, our staff is at your disposal: you can request additional items you might need (toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, slippers, etc.).
The rooms do not have a minibar, but during your stay, you can always take advantage of the bar on the ground floor to get fresh still or sparkling water, served in reusable glass bottles, to take to your room at any time.
Pets
Pets are welcome at our facility. There is no additional charge, but we would prefer to be informed in advance. Furry friends are always admitted free of charge, but to ensure the best possible welcome, we kindly ask that you let us know ahead of time if you are bringing them and if they have any special needs. We have a bed and bowls available, which we can have ready in your room to make their arrival less “stressful”.
Breakfast
Unless otherwise agreed, room rates always include a self-service international buffet breakfast, featuring: butter croissants, cornflakes, muesli, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade yogurt, artisanal cakes and cookies, muffins, bread, butter, jams, honey, Nutella, toasted bread, rice cakes, hard-boiled or scrambled eggs, bacon, cold cuts, and cheeses. Some of the items listed above are gluten-free and individually packaged (bread, shortbread cookies, wafers, rice cakes, muffins, toasted bread, muesli, cornflakes). Hot beverages such as tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are prepared on the spot, with the option of soy or rice milk. If you have any intolerances or allergies, you can speak directly with the breakfast staff.
Upon request, in case of early check-out, a takeaway breakfast can be arranged. By informing the reception the evening before, a package with everything needed for a complete and tasty breakfast will be prepared for you to take with you.
Restaurant
A Historic Place of Italy since 1815, this establishment preserves the atmosphere of old Turin and offers all the classic dishes of traditional Piedmontese cuisine, meticulously prepared according to the most ancient and traditional recipes.
On the ground floor of the building, in addition to a bar for guests, there is a renowned restaurant serving traditional Piedmontese cuisine. The restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM and from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and on Sundays from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM only. The average cost of a meal à la carte is around €30-40, and hotel guests enjoy a 10% discount on dinner (https://www.sangiors.it/en/restaurant/). Table reservations are highly recommended when confirming your stay, especially for weekend meals.
For over two centuries, San Giors has been a cornerstone of Piedmontese cuisine in Turin. The menu always includes classics such as vitello tonnato, acciughe al verde, bônet, agnolotti del plin, bagna caôda, and finanziera. The quality and locality of the ingredients are at the heart of the preparations, starting with the fresh pasta, all of which is made in-house. It is one of the few restaurants in Turin where you can still enjoy the authentic gran bollito misto alla piemontese, nine different cuts of meat [from beef, pork and chicken], served in a terracotta pot with beef broth and boiled vegetables [carrots, celery, potatoes, onions], accompanied by two side dishes and a taste of home-made agnolotti del plin to throw into the still hot broth. The traditional seven accompanying sauces cannot be missed [green sauce, red sauce, cognà (apple and pear jam made with grape must), fruit mustard, bee sauce, horseradish, mustard] and a good glass of wine chosen from a rich selection of mostly Piedmontese wines that will satisfy every lover of Bacchus' precious nectar. More than just a restaurant, it’s a place to experience and rediscover the most authentic flavors of Piedmontese tradition.
Cleaning
Daily room cleaning is always included in our rates. Each room is constantly sanitized, and our staff works diligently to ensure the highest level of hygiene. We focus all our efforts on making the environment as comfortable as possible for both you and the surrounding area.
We have noticed that sometimes towels are thrown on the floor after a single use. We understand that you may want fresh and clean towels during your stay, but we invite you to consider the positive environmental impact of opting for a more responsible use. Every towel that is washed uses valuable resources such as water and energy. If you do not need a daily change, leaving towels hung up will actively contribute to reducing waste and conserving resources. If you prefer frequent changes, simply leave the towels on the floor, and we will be happy to provide fresh ones.
Smoking and eating, even if food is purchased within the premises, are strictly prohibited in the rooms (and on the respective balconies). Each room is equipped with a smoke detector with an audible alarm.
Each room also features an ozone generator to ensure constant sanitization of the environment, making it free from bacteria, viruses, and all types of allergens. The Italian Ministry of Health, with protocol No. 24482 of July 1996, recognized ozone as a "natural means for the sterilization of environments" because it can eliminate bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms, such as dust mites that settle in upholstery and fabrics. It also removes bad odors, fungi, spores, and mold without leaving polluting traces, as it reverts to its original state of atmospheric oxygen after about 20 minutes.
The extremely quiet devices installed in the rooms have a 20-minute operation cycle followed by a 2-hour pause. They are calibrated to emit an amount of ozone below the concentration threshold deemed safe by the WHO and the US FDA.
If you detect a slight but unusual odor after the sanitization cycle, please do not be concerned. Ozone used at these concentrations is highly effective in sterilizing the environment and is also safe for health. Simply open a window for a few minutes, and the odor will dissipate completely, leaving a fresh sensation in the air. The well-being and safety of our guests are our top priorities, and we are pleased to offer you a healthy and comfortable environment during your stay.
