Petit motel modeste mais agréable, sur une longue plage de sable blanc, bordée d'arbres pohutukawa... Hébergement un peu ancien mais propre et bien équipé. Les bungalows sont un peu proches les uns des autres, d'où un manque d'intimité pas trop gênant pour une nuit mais sans doute davantage pour un séjour plus long... possibilité de barbecue sur la pelouse en bord de mer. Belle promenade à faire sur la longue plage déserte et joli point de vue au soleil couchant, du haut du petit promontoire rocheux la surplombant.

Beautify waterfront spot, mature pohutukawa shade in front lawn, golden sands beach, no surf but beautiful for swimming. Motel facilities simple, bathroom dated but everything super clean and tidy. Friendly management . 8mins to grocery store and restaurants at Tutukaka.

I can't thank you enough for giving us such an amazing experience. The units were spotless, loads of blankets, pillows and towels. We had not been together for over 5 years and this is just where we needed to be. Used the BBQ, swam, walked the beach and easy access to the Marina at Tutakaka and the dairy. What a lovely couple running the Sands Motel. My eldest daughter flew out yesterday and my second daughter went back to Auckland. We now know where my husband and I can come for a break. We will be back. Carole

My partner and I were very pleased with this little motel. The staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The Unit was spotless and warm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will happily stay there again sometime in the future.

My daughter and I spent 4 days in this beautiful part of NZ. While the motel is older, it has a very efficient heat pump which made it very comfortable. The location is as per the photos, right on the beach. Hosts are friendly, helpful and kind.

We stayed at the motel during cyclone Gabrielle. The managers Ross and Shelley went above and beyond to ensure we were safe and had everything we needed. We could not have been in a better place. The unit was exceptionally well furnished, with great beds and comfortable eating and sitting areas. There was everything we needed and it was in a beautiful setting. We will definitely stay there again, it was awesome!

Lovely place to stay, I had a very nice clean cabin, the hosts were lovely and setting is fantastic... I'd recommend a walk to the beach then turn right and continue up to the lookout and then further around to lots of other empty beaches and more stunning scenery...
