Hotel Vallabh with Lake Facing Balcony

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. OWNER CANCELLED OUR RESERVATION ON THE DAY OF ARRIVAL WITH NO PRIOR NOTICE. We had booked this property for Dec 31st more than three months in advance and had received confirmation emails and a booking number, and had also communicated with the owner via WhatsApp to reconfirm our stay. No advance payment was requested. Two days before arrival, the owner messaged us on the *********** app asking us to “reconfirm our reservation”. No other messages, emails or calls were sent. We had limited internet access during our travels and were not able to reply. On the day of arrival and on our way to the hotel, we rechecked our messages and saw that the owner had cancelled our reservation and had sold out all his rooms. There was no mention of a possible cancellation in any of his messages and he had also not confirmed this with us. Our status on *********** was still saying “Confirmed”. We immediately called *********** Customer Service who told us that properties MUST have a valid reason to cancel reservations and that they MUST inform *********** first - the owner had done neither of these. We were left stranded in a new city on New Years Eve despite having booked our rooms three months in advance. Owner refused to honor our reservation and probably sold our rooms to a higher bidder on the day of. Extremely unprofessional, zero business ethics and blatantly went against Booking.com’s T&Cs. Rooms looked good on paper but we never stayed so cannot comment on the quality.
