An old ryokan that needs maintenance and proper cleaning. On the day of arrival we even found a centipede in the bath tub to welcome us ! Staff is friendly but does not speak much English so a lot of improvising and guessing to get messages across. Quite worrying for us on the last night as the hotel is just next to a river with heavy rainfall overnight all the bridges were locked down for use and we stayed up to watch the rising level of river all night in anticipation of an evacuation.

Everything was perfect except the public baths, first of all there wasnt enough baths and the outdoor bath on the third floor is not warm at all.
Other than that the room was great and clean the view was good and the staff treated us well.
The location is also very nice i could go out for a walk at night around uji river.

That is my first time go to uji with my family. when I looking for the accommodation I was attracted by the tatami room type. It was a good chance for us to deeply enjoy the hot spring and Japanese culture. Room is good, staff is nice, breakfast is really Japanese, most important thing is near the byodoin. Uji is less people at night luckily that we can take the taxi at the keihan uji railway, but there are so many flying ants is freak me out when I get off the railway.

The view from this hotel is unbeatable; very very peaceful and beautiful. It rained heavily on the second day and the Uji River was flooded. It was during the heavy rain when I checked out. The front desk told me that there were no taxis available. I had to walk to the station or wait for the shuttle bus in an hour. Everyone should pay attention to this link.
